  1. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

We were on holiday in Cornwall and unfortunately had to use the 111 service for our elderly Mother. We were told to go to this pharmacy for a Consultation with the Pharmacist. We did this and the service from everyone was excellent. The Pharmacist was pleasant and helpful - speaking with our Mum to gain information about her condition. He could not have been nicer. Got prescription at pharmacy after 10 minute wait and staff there were very pleasant and helpful too. Shame we can’t move you all up country. Thank you.

  2. Review titled New system for collection of prescription.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

This is a brilliant system. Receive code from Daylewis, visit outside of pharmacy, insert personal details as requested, add code - box opens, prescription dispensed. All done in 2 minutes - excellent. Just make sure pharmacy assistant does not have interior door of box open - will not work!

When attend this pharmacy wait outside in all weather. Due to congestion inside. limited staff . normally waiting time is 1 hour until they can make up drugs. I had five items on prescription wait 1 hour . Drugs not short. Informed by staff member can only prescribe 0ne item on prescription too busy. Come back another day. Staff are short and stressed. This situation is everyday . Expect you rearrange your life !come another day. Unaccepted. Never have experienced such service. The company very badly managed.

  4. Review titled Left me without meds

Rated 1 star out of 5

I work Monday - Thursday till 6, and finish at 5 on a Friday. I went straight to the chemist and waited outside in the queue. By the time I got to the front of the queue it was 5:50 pm. A lady with a bob and glasses came out and said we are only giving emergency anti biotic prescriptions. I needed my bupremorphone patches. She said I would have to come back Monday. I explained that without them I would be in extreme discomfort. She got my prescription and gave it to me saying something about a spine. I then went to Asda. They were unable to give me the prescription at it was on the spine at Wheal Northey and therefore I could not have it. Meaning I am now having to wait until Monday until I can get my prescription and will have to take time off work. The chemist should have gone out before 5:50 to sort the issue out.

  5. Review titled Worth avoiding

Rated 1 star out of 5

Wife turned up for flu jab booked weeks in advance only to be told they had no vaccines suitable. No warning, no cancellation until she arrived. Cheekily the pharmacy when I called them then tried to shift blame to my wife as I mentioned that she hadn't been well.. them suggesting 'well she wouldn't have been eligible anyway then' (I wasn't aware depression was a barrier to getting a flu jab!). First and last time used - arrogant, hopeless, ignorant.

  6. Review titled Declining service, lack of customer care

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Over recent months the general service provided by Day Lewis St Austell has declined. Now it is not possible to telephone either of the two local branches because the phones are switched off and a message says try again later. That does not work either.

  7. Review titled Perhaps one of the worst run businesses in the uk

Rated 1 star out of 5

by PETER MCINTOSH - Posted on 25 February 2023

My comments relate only to the pharmacy at Wheal Northey operated by Day Lewis and their senior corporate management team, since this is the only Day Lewis I have visited. Since it is the pharmacy in the same building as my family doctor, some 3 years ago I selected this as the pharmacy where my prescriptions should be sent for fulfillment. The service I have received over the years has never been good due to experiencing lengthy waits to collect my medicines, however over the last year it has got progressively worse. Queues have got much longer, on Friday the 17th February I waited in a queue that had over 40 people in it, over half the people were queueing outside the shop in the cold, having to queue outside in the cold and often rain is normal, I can hardly ever remember being able to walk strait into the shop. Waiting 20 minutes or more is the norm. Once you have reached the counter the chances of your prescription having been made up are small, even though sometimes the prescription was sent by the Doctor to the pharmacy well over a week before. This means I have to wait another 15-25 minutes for the prescription to be made up. To make matters worse on some 4 occasions over the last year they have not had a particular medicine in stock, meaning that I have to return two or even three times before they have got the medicine in. I am aged 67 and cannot remember over the last 50 years a pharmacy being out of stock more than a couple of times. Note that I live about a 30 minute drive from the pharmacy. I would like to stress that I attach no blame to shop staff who all seem to work very hard under extreme pressure and always are pleasant. I have never been to the shop when there were not people waiting to be served. The staff often seem to work without complaint at least an extra 30 minutes many nights after the 6 pm close time due to people being in the queue at 6 pm. I once jokingly asked if they were paid overtime, they said not. Thus the problem is clearly too few staff and this is not a temporary thing it has been going on for years I have made a point over the last few weeks of looking at the queues in other pharmacies in St. Austell and there only seems to be a few people waiting. So Day Lewis are certainly employing too few staff at this pharmacy, whether or not their local management is also contributing to the problem I am not in a position to say, but the senior management of the Company are without doubt responsible and are running the Company in a very poor manner to have allowed the position I describe above to develop and continue. Since the nhs ultimately fund prescriptions I might also suggest that the relevant nhs authorities are also negligent in not ensuring that nhs patients get a proper service.
