Review titled Local Pharmacy saved me a trip to the crem!
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kathleen Warman - Posted on 04 February 2025
I went to my pharmacy to collect some medication and a young gentleman on the front desk offered me a Free Blood Pressure check on the NHS, I have since had further steps taken from the Pharmacy's team and my local GP which has put things in place to keep my health at its highest. I could not recommend this Pharmacy more, they have a warm and welcoming team with the safety and privacy of their patients being their forefront concern. 10/10 :D

Review titled Little Gem

Tiny, busy but excellent community pharmacy. I've used this place for many years and the staff are always polite, kind and thorough. I attended yesterday to enquire about a Covid booster I needed and they were able to access my medical records and administer it on the spot. Can't recommend enough.

Review titled Heavy Pressure in Community Pharmacies
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by James Aswell - Posted on 30 January 2025
I attended this pharmacy just after 2pm today and found 6 other customers in front of me waiting to be served. The staff were clearly worked off their feet. The pharmacist was not only dealing with the given patient but she was also giving directions to what seemed like other less experienced staff. There was just 3 of them dealing with the customers. But I did not witness the support from the patients, especially the one that just walked in and just wanted to jump the queue to do a medication return. They were disrespectful to the others who were waiting in the queue ahead of them. These are basic British Mannerisms. When they are doing the best they can at the given time. I could feel it as I worked in the NHS for the last 25 years of my Career. Please Be Respectful to NHS staff. Especially With the given climate a lot of Community pharmacy are shutting their doors, if you can not make their day then don’t spoil it.

Review titled First Class Service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Doug Pescod - Posted on 16 December 2024
I received first class service at this pharmacy. Waiting to be attended to, I observed that the person in front of me was treated with respect, politeness, and it was clear that the assistant, a man, was keen to assist the person in any way he could. When it was my turn, I received the same service, from his manner, friendly personality, and his response to my query, the assistant was the most professional and helpful person I have had the pleasure to meet in a long time. Furthermore, I was able to be given the flu vaccine with only a 5 minute wait, and the other staff who dealt with me were, likewise, very friendly and nothing was a burden to them. The Pharmacist asked a number of questions, explained the particular vaccine I was being given, and, having administered it, took the time to talk to me, not rushing off. I felt valued, and I can say, hyperbole aside, that I received service which could not be faulted. Thank you to all the staff.

Review titled Excellent local, independent pharmacy
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by John Ashton - Posted on 25 November 2024
Douglas Pharmacy is my designated pharmacy. Located in a row of independent shops. Like all good outlets, it can be busy. But the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and easy to get to know. If you have a problem they invariably do their best to understand it and then to solve it: nothing is too much trouble, and you feel more welcome than you sometimes do in the larger franchise chains. All these attributes were in evidence when I visited the pharmacy to collect a complex prescription on 23 November 2024, when the team went to great lengths to ask about how they could do an even better job.

Review titled Inappropriate venue for a vaccination centre.
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 10 October 2024
Attended this pharmacy for flu and Covid immunisation yesterday. The entrance is down a scruffy alley, there is insufficient waiting room (left standing in the rain outside until assistant said she would ring me when my slot came up). The assessment was perfunctory and the recorded reason for my vaccination on the subsequent GP letter was wrong. More troubling was the fact that there was no privacy- names were shouted across the small crowded room and I could hear the clinical interviews coming from the next room. In summary this is amateurish, in fact un-professional and a disgrace.

Review titled Access
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by J.Hannon - Posted on 12 October 2023
I took my 94 year old dad for his Covid jab.He uses a walking frame. We queued in the back lane full of bins along with other elderly people with frames and sticks.there were 2 big steps up into the building followed by a step once you entered.he had to leave his frame and hold onto the door frames.he caught his foot as he entered. He was told to take his jacket off and was jabbed as soon as he stood up.There was no communication, just done as fast as possible.Another elderly lady couldn`t manage the steps and was directed to the front entrance where there was still a step up.there isn’t room to swing a cat let alone have safe access for the elderly.Because of the supposed one way system she met my dad in the middle ,trying to pass without falling.I really think there should be ramps or some warning when you book that this is not a suitable option for elderly people who use aids.we definitely won’t use this chemist again.
