  2. Review titled Great pharmacist and wonderful human being

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My doctor called the pharmacy at Pattens Lane to make sure they had stock of an urgently needed medication he had prescribed. The pharmacy was about to close but the pharmacist offered to stay behind after closing; he instructed that I knock on the shutters when I arrived. He was so kind to me that it almost brought me to tears; when I thanked him he replied that it was his pleasure and his duty. When my son returned to the pharmacy to pick up another prescription the pharmacist gave him some food supplements to help me while i couldn't eat - he said these were free of charge. Each time my son returns to the pharmacy, the pharmacist never fails to ask after me. I have seen some awful reviews for this pharmacy, I cannot believe that they are from the Pattens Lane branch. I have nothing but praise for the exceptional pharmacist who works there, he is truly a rarity in this day and age.

  3. Review titled Felt belittled and embarrassed by pharmacist

Rated 3 stars out of 5

I had experienced some mild chest pain and I was really concerned about what to do. I was advised by 111 to visit Karsons Pharmacy to talk to a medical professional - I was told that they would have my information and just to pop in. When I arrived, and explained my symptoms the chemist said "Well why did you come here?" - I suffer from severe health anxiety whilst also being scared of going to the doctors so it took a lot for me to go (that's how much pain I was in). She was so dismissive of my symptoms and was talking really loudly so everyone in the pharmacy could hear and I felt like I was being questioned by the police and that my going there was a complete mistake. The thing that really upset me was when she said. "Well you've either got indigestion or you're having a heart attack." That made me panic further and increased my pain. There was no sympathy or understanding of why I came to the chemist more so - she hadn't even looked to see if my details were sent through by 111. I understand it was a busy time and I can sympathise with the struggle of seeing to everyone but I really felt embarrassed by the whole situation and the fact that everyone in the building was also watching this interaction too, it was so demeaning.

  4. Review titled Poor customer service. Staff are rude

Rated 1 star out of 5

I was waiting for my prescription for over an hour, I had to give my name on a slip and wait to be called. I had spoken to my GP prior as I needed an urgent prescription for the contraceptive pill and the doctors said the pharmacy should be able to give me 1 month without a prescription to tide me over. I went straight into the pharmacy and tried to explain my situation to the woman behind the counter who just told me to in other words stop talking and wait in the queue like every body else, she didn’t have any interest in helping me, she was really rude, I just wanted to know if this was possible before I waited in case I would wasted my time! In the hour I was waiting I was not asked by any of the pharmacy staff what my name was etc even though everyone who came in after me had left before me and I was still standing there. I went over to ask what was going on and what seemed to be the lady running it completely ignored me and every time I tried to get her attention she would pretend she hadn’t seen me. A member of staff in the shop actually asked me if I was ok and mentioned I had been waiting a while and offered to help. To which the lady who had been ignoring me came over to tell me she already had shouted my name and there was no prescription for me. Which was utter lies because I hadn’t moved in an hour so I would have heard my name and if I knew there was nothing for me I would’ve left by now instead of wasting my own time! She was so terribly rude. I tried to explain again why I was here and what I was trying to get, she again cut me off and interrupted me and just didn’t listen to a word I said. She continued to make me wait and serve all the other customers and ask others if they were ok, what they were waiting for but she just didn’t have this attitude towards me. Once I tried to get her attention again she told me she was going for a tea break and walked off. In the end a really nice young girl listened to me and helped me get an emergency prescription by filling a form out and giving me what I needed. I said thank you and told her I really appreciated it. However I was really upset and angry at the way I had been treated at this pharmacy.
