My fiancée has been to this pharmacy today after a GP appointment where the nurse who saw her told her to go straight to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. The lady who served my fiancée told her there was nothing under her name and that it could take a minute, 10 minutes, or a few hours for it to come from the GP and to go away and do some shopping. This member of staff also said that the GPs tell patients their prescriptions will be ready by the time they get there but they're just lying. My fiancée left in tears as she's extremely unwell, was doing what the GP told her, and does not expect to be spoken to like dirt by anybody, especially not someone who's job is to give people medication. How somebody can speak to an extremely ill member of the public like that and be okay with it is absolutely beyond me.

Dear anonymous, thank you for your feedback. I am the manager at this pharmacy. I apologise that your fiancée experienced this level of service. At this pharmacy we try to deliver the best care possible to our patients and endeavour to meet their needs. However we are aware that patients are often directed to us with the information that their prescription will be ready upon their arrival. However this is not usually possible. When the prescription is sent from the surgery it should arrive with us straight away like an email, however this is not always the case. Sometimes there is a time lag which can be dependent upon how many prescriptions are being sent through simultaneously and also to do with technology and computers which are also not always reliable. Due to the hundreds of prescriptions that are sent daily from various surgeries in the area it is not possible for us to dispense them and have them ready for when the patient arrives at the pharmacy. When there is a time lag and the prescription has not arrived in that moment when the patient arrives, we advise the patient about this. We would then ask them to wait for a few minutes and sometimes patients prefer to do some shopping in town and pop back after. I am not aware of who the staff member is that your fiancée was seen by and so can not take this any further yet. However we have taken all your feedback on board and I have briefed all the staff about this to try to avoid this issue occurring again. Should you wish to speak to me directly to further address this issue please contact me on the pharmacy number below. Manager 01782 313783
