Review titled Awful service
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Kaur - Posted on 05 February 2024
I would not even give this place a one star! Staff on the counter were absolutely awful and rude!! Had no patient mannerism or respect. Giving me dirty looks and frowning when I had given my details. I had then been given items which I had not requested and I asked the girl to kindly take them back and only supply me with what I needed. I was told I had to take the whole bag? even though I did not need the other items.. lovely use of money there. The girl then assumed I was exempt from paying for my prescription? I had to fight for the fact I actually do pay and she said I was exempt? surely I would know my own circumstances. Staff member working behind asked ' what the issue was' I said I pay for my medicine so can I make a payment. This was then done and my medicine was given to me in my hands. No bag was supplied, just a box left on the counter. My address was not confirmed either, luckily I collect my own medicine so I know what I am expecting. when I walked towards the door the staff member loudly said to the girl on the till 'was she being rude' baring in mind the staff there could all hear the conversation which was had at the till. At no point was there any rudeness from my side, but I definitely will not be coming back here In a rush. awful awful patient / customer service. After reading the other reviews people have left, I now understand why.

Review titled Closed due to inadequate staffing levels
Rated 1 star out of 5
by James Mackay - Posted on 13 December 2023
A couple of Saturdays ago, I went to Avicenna (or is it Mellors?) at lunchtime to collect a prescription. There was a small queue at the door, on which was posted a notice which forms the title of this report. The woman at the front of the queue was explaining to a shop assistant who was looking through ajar opening of the door that she had come to collect antibiotics prescribed for her elderly husband. After some toing and froing (I didn't eavesdrop on the whole exchange) the assistant asked, 'Is it urgent?'. The lady explained that it was, the antibiotics were prescribed for a condition beyond others from which her husband suffers. To that, the assistant replied, 'Yes, but is it urgent urgent?' Reluctantly persuaded, she closed the door, went back into the shop, and returned a couple of minutes later to say that the prescription was not yet ready. She continued, explaining that if it had been ordered in the past 48 hours it wouldn't have been prepared, as there was a large backlog. The pharmacy, holding a doctor's prescription for the patient had, a hold over the customer, who could not, at this stage, take it elsewhere. My own prescription could wait, I left and do not know how that exchange ended. I would not write if I had not, during the previous week, noticed the shop closed at lunchtime. Whichever company actually runs the place is clearly incapable of providing the service that users, and the NHS, require. It appears that its ownership has lately changed, but the Avicenna website does not enable me to find out to whom I should be complaining directly. Like others in that queue, I can only say, have your prescriptions handled elsewhere.

Review titled Hard working team
Rated 5 stars out of 5

My family joined 12 months ago. The Pharmacy team has recently changed in key leads. The service throughout has been very good. However the wait time of 48 hours needs to be altered to 72 hours and advertised to users as this. Currently there is a 20 minute wait for a prescription and this feels excessive when it has been submitted at over 48 hours. The adhoc demand on the Pharmacist's time for walk in consultation needs an appointment system in place to reduce impact on the service provided.
