  1. Review titled Rude Giggly Pharmacist

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 30 April 2024

I only visited this pharmacy today and encountered an extremely rude reception from one of the pharmacists. Unfortunately myself and my friends attended today due to itchy skin and found out that we have scabies. Immediately we were prescribed to pick up our cream from the Molineux Pharmacy and headed straight down as we obviously want to resolve this problem immediately. We handed our prescription leaflets to the pharmacists together as it is obviously the same cream that we all needed to get. When we were sitting on the waiting chairs to collect our prescriptions, there was an extremely rude pharmacist behind the counter who was giggling with another pharmacist. It was so loud that we immediately looked over and they were staring in our direction and looking with the other pharmacist and still laughing. Then they proceeded to walk out of sight behind the counter but you could still hear laughter and then they returned and stared at us again, still giggling to themself. Then the other pharmacist who seemed to find it amusing picked up on our expressions and told the giggly pharmacist to “stop it,” obviously realising that we knew they were laughing at us. It was extremely disrespectful and rude to encounter someone who is supposed to be in a professional environment laughing at patients in an unfortunate circumstance. You should not have to feel like you are being judged by a pharmacist or being used for their amusement when it is already a bad situation for us already. Extremely uncomfortable and disappointing behaviour.

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback and could I please apologise for your poor experience within the pharmacy. Could I please start by reassuring you that whilst we employ 2 pharmacists at any one time, they are located in one of the 2 dispensaries on the premises and not behind the counter, facing patients. The role of the counter assistants is to help patients and customers, usually in receiving and handing out prescriptions and medication. They aren’t trained in the use of prescription medicines and would have been unaware of what was prescribed. They would have been concerned about exemption status and clerical issues associated with the prescription. Molineux pharmacy is one of the busiest pharmacies in England and has had particular problems recently due to the intermittent closure of another pharmacy nearby. This has caused tension and unpleasantness with patients from that pharmacy who have come in seeking assistance when unable to secure their prescribed medication from their usual pharmacy. We also have a lot of patients with additional needs. Unfortunately we are more often accused of being dour and humourless due to the serious atmosphere in the pharmacy as we have a lot of tense and serious situations to work with. In some respects I’m relieved that the staff were demonstrating amusement but I must categorically state this had absolutely nothing to do with a matter involving any patient. It certainly wasn’t aimed at you or your friends. I have spoken with all concerned and I’m satisfied that the display was an internal matter. However the fact that one of the staff pointed out that behaviour was not acceptable and that they should “stop it” does indicate that it stretched professionalism unacceptably. I can envisage many situations in which patients would be upset at this. They may have just had upsetting news or may be suffering symptoms that are painful. To be confronted by our staff apparently not taking things seriously, I understand could be distressing and I apologise unreservedly for that. The staff are aware of what is expected of them and I can 100% guarantee that the cause of the amusement had nothing to do with any patient. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. If you would like to discuss in more detail feel free to contact me on 0191 2196097. Thanks Kind regards Chris Dodd Superintendent pharmacist

  2. Review titled Very Bad Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

I visited today to ask for a fit to work note after being off for a week. The NHS website states "You can get a fit note from a doctor, nurse, occupational therapist, pharmacist or physiotherapist" so I thought I will ask the pharmacist rather than take up a much needed appointment. The pharmacist point blank refused and would not even let me explain where I got the information from that they are able to give one! They just kept repeating no without listening, so now I have to make an appointment with overstretched NHS staff just to say I am fit to work. Very disappointing and frustrating.

Dear sir/madam, Thank you for taking the trouble to comment on our “NHS Choices” page. It’s unfortunate that you feel as though your query wasn’t dealt with appropriately. I appreciate your motivation in seeking to ease the burdon on general practice and appreciate that publicity has been given to the fact that health professionals other than doctors are now empowered to issue “Fit Notes”. However patients may have been misled by that statement as it is only staff employed by the GP practice with full access to the full medical record that are permitted to issue such documents. Whilst it hasn’t been declared publicly, that would exclude most community Pharmacists and I believe this has caused unnecessary confusion for patients and carers. The route to obtain a “Fit Note” is still via the reception staff at your GP practice. I am disturbed to hear of your perceived experience in our pharmacy. I wasn’t in the pharmacy on that day so if you would like to discuss that in more detail I would be happy to oblige. I can be contacted on 0191 2196097. Kind regards Chris Dodd Pharmacy Superintendent

  3. Review titled Appalling Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Aphra - Posted on 30 May 2023

I have repeat prescription items that need to be delivered each month and, without fail, I have to ring several times to get my items - that's if you can get any answer. So far this month, I've had to ring five times and having rung today and been told my items were out for delivery, it's now 5.30p.m. and there's still no sign of them. They're not answering the phone so I'll have to try again tomorrow, the sixth time of contacting them. I'll be without important heart medication after tomorrow but the fiasco continues. If they can't reliably offer a delivery service, they shouldn't offer it, even as a free service surely customers deserve a better level of professionalism than is currently be offered. Oh, and don't even think of trying to speak to the manager because you'll never be allowed to.

  4. Review titled Not very good

Prescription orders never complete, despite having them weeks in advance. Always have to return for "owing" meds or told they will be in days after regular prescription due, even on items that can't be missed, going elsewhere!

  5. Review titled Poor service

Rated 1 star out of 5

I get important heart meds and they are always late to deliver up to the point when I've ran out and go days missing my medication, when I try to ring them they never pick up, they will either let it ring out or just press the receiver to stop the phone ringing. It's extremely distressing to have to go through this every month I have enough problems without worrying about not having my meds that are essentially keeping me out of hospital, or worse.

  6. Review titled Good First Impressions

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by New Customer - Posted on 17 November 2022

First time using this clean, well staffed, spacious pharmacy. Having recently been switched here due to our old pharmacy closing down, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. It couldn’t have gone better. The staff member serving me was quick, pleasant and efficient. All the prescriptions were ready. Altogether a speedy and stress free experience.
