  1. Review titled In the time of need ..

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I'd gone on holiday, forgetting an important prescription item. My GP surgery said they'd send a message to the St Mawes Pharmacy to prescribe it once a GP had approved it, but could give no idea of when during the day/evening that might be. I visited the Pharmacy to enquire if the prescription had been received and explained my predicament. The Pharmacy Assistant couldn't have been more kind and understanding, even when I was getting anxious that 'script wouldn't arrive before the Pharmacist finished for the day. Luckily the 'script came through two minutes before he left, and he kindly delayed leaving to especially make it up for me. The two members of staff I dealt with were amazing - thank you!

  2. Review titled Rude and Dismissive Service

Rated 1 star out of 5

I visited this pharmacy while on holiday as the weather was unexpectedly warm which caused my mum to have a migraine. She gets maybe 5 migraines a year which she treats with over-the-counter analgesics, as recommended by her doctor. We did not pack any painkillers with us as thought the weather would be much milder than it was so she sent me out to get some Nurofen Plus from the local pharmacy so she could try to enjoy some of her holiday. The initial service I received was very helpful, however, the next person I spoke to was incredibly rude and patronising. Understandably, they asked questions about my mum's symptoms which I answered to the best of my ability. I even offered to phone my mum so she could relay it fully. In front of a store of people, I was interrogated as if I was buying class A drugs. I was treated like I was being "caught out" for buying something I didn't need. I was asked which side my mum's migraines were on, so I said she suffers from them both sides. I was told that meant it wasn't a proper migraine and it was just a tension headache which should be treated with just paracetamol, again, in a store full of people. I was spoken down to and treated like a child, despite being a 30 year old woman. Some of the worst customer service I've ever received. I did not mind that I was refused the medication, that's their right, despite the fact I then drove to Truro and purchased it with no issue. However, the way I was spoken to in St. Mawes Pharmacy was disgusting and shocked me close to the point of tears, even though I remained calm and friendly throughout the interaction. It's sad because I like to support local shops where possible but I will never visit this pharmacy again and I've shared my findings with many locals and friends. It costs nothing to treat people with respect, but I've never felt more disrespected in a retail environment.
