  1. Review titled Patronising and unhelpful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 August 2024

I started to get worsening UTI symptoms on a bank holiday weekend and my GP practice named this as the bank holiday duty pharmacy. I asked to speak to the pharmacist and he started asking me questions in front of a really busy counter. I had to ask to speak somewhere privately. When I told him the issues he said "What do you expect us to do?". I was hoping for some advice. I found his tone patronising and was made to feel like I was wasting his time. I've had severe UTIs before that have ended in kidney problems and I mentioned that I had previously had antibiotics to prevent this. He asked some questions about my symptoms then pointed to some meaningless chart on a wall and told me that he couldn't help because the "normal pharmacist" wasn't there. This pharmacy was named as the bank holiday duty pharmacy on other pharmacy websites as well. He said I should try somewhere else. I asked him where I could get help and he just waved his hand in the direction of the high street and said "There are lots, try any". I was in a lot of pain and discomfort and feeling unwell. This was someone who clearly had no interest in helping me and made me feel like I was just drug-seeking or something. Seriously, I don't take antibiotics for fun. I know they can't be given out freely without good reason but you could make that case without being condescending. Some serious attitude training needed for this pharmacist.

  2. Review titled charging incorrect prices

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 March 2024

I picked up an item with a price label £1.99. When I got to the till the staff member told me it was in fact £2.50 and started to peel off the price sticker. I pointed out they were obliged to charge me the price on the sticker, and I didn't want the item if it was to be charged at £2.50 I asked them if I could pay £1.99. I was told no, the till figure was correct and that was the price. The manager/supervisor then approached me and told me in no uncertain terms and with an aggressive attitude that they wanted good customer relations and the price showing on the till (£2.50l) was correct. I wasn't allowed to speak and left the shop with the manager now shouting at me. I spoke in a normal voice throughout. Once the manager appeared he didnt look to clarify my query. He simply harangued and lectured. I was not permitted to respond. I will not return.

  3. Review titled Extremely poor

Rated 1 star out of 5

this company's people or Staff skills are appalling or rather absent altogether. Im also not the first to comment on this - please check the negative Google reviews also.... There is a code of conduct to follow for running a pharmacy in the United Kingdom. I believe the staff are not compliant with it. The following code of conduct comes from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain..... Pharmacists must ensure that they behave with integrity and probity, adhere to accepted standards of personal and professional conduct and do not engage in any behaviour or activity likely to bring the profession into disrepute or undermine public confidence in the profession. With unwavering certainty I can confirm in my opinion that the above code of conduct has not been adhered to.

  4. Review titled Dissapointing service after takeover

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Disappointed - Posted on 04 March 2023

This used to be an excellent, 5 star pharmacy with friendly, helpful staff. We had enjoyed excellent service with Sterling Pharmacy for several years. I am sorry to say that with the recent takeover most of these qualities have gone out the window. It would be unfair to say all the new staff are rude and have poor client management skills, but in the last three weeks my wife and I had, on separate occasions with different staff, experienced very poor, argumentative and rude service. The staff members involved seemed more interested in arguing then listening and helping. My wife said her experience was akin to being told she is lying. Unacceptable. Really disappointing. We will move.
