With held my housebound 88 year old mum's medication, heart, breathing and water tablets because she hadn't paid £2 delivery charge which she knew nothing about Disgraceful

Dear Patient, Thank you for contacting us regarding your mum's medication. Due to funding pressures we have stopped free deliveries for sometime and a letter had been sent to all our Delivery Patients informing them of the changes. We would never withold any medication to any of our patients even if they cannot pay the delivery charge. They will be taken off our Delivery schedule as we can no longer supply this service free of charge. I have spoken to the shop staff concerned, and they have confirmed that the medication was in the pharmacy for it to be picked up as repeated deliveries have not been paid for. For clarity it is not in our contract to offer delivery of medication free or otherwise. Like I said before, we can no longer afford to offer this service free of charges due to the funding pressures. A number of pharmacies have closed down because they can no longer afford to operate at loss and we are trying our best to stay in business to provide services to our local community. No one seems to know what they are doing. Every visit even if the place is empty is up to a 20/30min wait. You can’t ask for prescriptions in stock to be made up ready for collection even if you have mobility issues and have to get a cab to collect you still have to wait for 20/30mins although staff are mostly standing around talking and laughing. Never have a full prescription in stock. Considering it’s the only pharmacy to Stockbridge village locally it’s run by incompetent people

Dear Patient, Thank you for your feedback, which is extremely useful in pointing out where we need to improve our offering. Please accept my apologies for longer waiting time than usual. However, we are under severe pressurures to maintain normal services due to a number of factors such as Staff being away on holidays or sick, thus putting extra pressures on existing staff members. We are trying to resolve these matters by actively recruting new trained members of staff. All our staff are fully trained or undergoing accredited training for the various roles they play. All pharmacies in England are having difficulties in obtaining stock in the quantities they require to fullfill the demands they are facing, and we are no different. We are doing our best to obtain stock to full fill the prescriptions that we are presented with, as a result we cannot always fill a prescription fully.
