    My wife depends upon a repeat insulin prescription for her diabetes. This isn't something she can do without: she'll either end up in A&E or worse. The reliability of the Pharmacy service over the last 18 months or so has been something to be desired. It is always necessary to order a repeat prescription earlier than otherwise necessary so you don't run out. They do not inform you when the prescription is available and rarely answer the phone (it is not uncommon for my wife to have to continually try to phone over a period of an hour to try to talk to someone). The most recent occasion, my wife had the prescription authorised by the GP about 2 weeks ago and it is still not available. It turns out having pressed for more information that there appears to be a procurement issue (they had to reorder it apparently). My wife wasn't notified at all that this was the case (if she had known she could have attempted to get the medication elsewhere). When discussing with the manager of the service, they claimed that they had no way of contacting patients who are waiting for critical medication in such cases. I pointed out that this is a very obvious risk to patient health and that due diligence and consideration of patients had not fully been appreciated given the procurement issue they appear to have. I wonder if this is a clinical issue that needs to be raised elsewhere? I asked for this to be escalated for a full review, but I wasn't convinced that much will be done. The attitude was firmly that it was the patient responsibility to phone and check - quite irresponsible and unrealistic given no one answers the phone. Also how is anyone supposed to know about a procurement problem? Despite what they claim, I struggle to see why patients or GP surgeries could not have been sent some general comms regarding procurement issues and potential delays. It's just poor. I hope that someone performs a full risk abd root cause analysis of these sorts of issues with this Pharmacy. It used to be great, but now is very slow and unreliable for patients needing repeat life saving medication. It is unclear whether there are not enough staff/too much work or if this is a case of poor infrastructure and management (perhaps a mix of both). It is a shame: my wife is now looking to take the service elsewhere.

  2. Review titled Incorrect dosage label and short antibiotics

    On November 27, 2024, Tesco staff dispensed my private prescription. Upon reviewing the medication at home, I noticed that the dosage (quantity) of antibiotics dispensed was lower than prescribed. The label instructions indicated to take 500mg per day, while the prescription specified 1g per day. I returned to Tesco to address the issue. The staff apologised for the error and promptly provided me with the additional antibiotics and updated the label to reflect the correct dosage.

    There were three people in the queue ahead of me with the first being served. One of the people in front gave up, so there was one being served , one waiting and me. 20 munutes later and finally I got served. Behind me a queue of 5. No good morning, no apologies for the delay, no smile. Abject customer service. I would only go back if I had a chair to sit on and a good book.
