I requested a repeat medication for a chronic health condition. The practice ask for a 48hour window from the time of request to collection. From previous experience I always allow an additional day as the pharmacy always seems to be behind with their ordering of medication. However my experience this month has been horrendous. I submitted my request over two weeks ago, have been in six times and each time told to return the same time the following day on the ‘promise’ they have ordered the medication. My long term health condition, which was previously stable, has worsened and I have suffered acute exacerbations requiring emergency medicine in the interim. I still do not have my regular medication. The negligence from the pharmacy has had a direct; negative impact on my health, and an additional cost on secondary health services, which could have been completely prevented. There are wider issues around sourcing medication which I acknowledge, however, the consistency they demonstrate in stock shortages begs the question, should internal employees responsible for this task not be performance reviewed? It should not be so difficult to manage one’s health in the community, yet a lack of competence, and care, from the pharmacy makes it increasingly challenging.

Arrived at the pharmacy 9am on a Sunday morning with my partner. I wasn’t feeling very well due to the onset of a bladder infection. The pharmacist on shift was very helpful he was in fact from an agency. He was very polite & welcoming which made me feel at ease. Both me & my partner were very impressed with the time he spent advising us.
