  1. Review titled Friendly but inefficient pharmacy

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 July 2024

Having a small pharmacy in the village is an asset but with the increased number of patients to help, Watlington pharmacy is struggling. They do well to keep their patience with frustrated, poorly locals. Orders for repeat prescriptions need to be ordered at least a week in advance. Same day prescriptions from the GP often result in a 20 min plus wait or quite often, the item is out of stock. Many times I have seen patients opt to collect their prescription from else where only to have to wait again for a signature from the GP. The waiting area is tiny as most of the space is given to an used locked "consultancy" room meaning elderly or infirm or those with children having to make do with 2 chairs, squashed in with others waiting and waiting. A beeper system allowing you to sit in the car isn't ideal for those that are less mobile and certainly adds to delays. Plus point, there are items available to buy over the counter and staff are helpful. There do seem to be lots of dispensers and people busy or chatting behind the scenes and this, added to the bottle neck at the desk, perhaps adds to the feeling of being disorganised. Overall, a little gem which could be a jewel with a bit of investment in planning and facilities.

  2. Review titled Absolutely Amazing!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

We are very fortunate to have such an amazing pharmacy attached to our amazing doctors surgery in our small village so we don’t have to travel when we are not feeling well. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and there is a consultation room to discuss health issues privately. I put mine and my mother’s repeat prescription in and then pick it up 2 weeks later and then in 2 weeks I put the prescription in again and repeat every month to ensure there is plenty of time for my medication to be ready and the text reminder system is amazing and prevents unnecessary trips to find the prescription isn’t ready yet. It is frustrating when items aren’t available for the staff as well as for us as they are unable to swap medication without the GP changing the prescription as it maybe detrimental to our health and it is illegal! I cannot fault my experiences with the Pharmacy! It is really upsetting when so many patients moan because they don’t want to wait for there prescription to be made and don’t use the pharmacy correctly expecting and demanding all there medications to be ready in 5 minutes there and then! It is a very small pharmacy with a very large number of patients and the country has lots of shortages to medications which is out of there control. Keep up the amazing work you absolute superstars!

  3. Review titled Total and utter incompetence

Rated 1 star out of 5

I cannot believe the sheer incompetence from the staff. It makes an utter beggar of belief. My mother has terminal cancer, she is diabetic, she has just undergone major surgery and has just left hospital with an infection for which she needs antibiotics. They gave my husband B12 tablets , after he had specified antibiotics, instead of the antibiotics she so desperately needs. I had to go back and get them before they closed. This is not the only time this has happened. Withholding her diabetic drugs because they had run out of other ( minor) drugs. And then when I do try to collect drugs the staff walk around as if they are in some kind of Norfolk version of a zombie film. They misplace prescriptions, have nothing ready and display no sense of purpose or indeed awareness that other people's health is at risk because of their colossal incompetence. Outrageous.

  4. Review titled Such a lack of compassion

Rated 1 star out of 5

Couldn’t fulfill full prescription, didn’t mention before- I couldn’t stand for long and could barely speak- when I asked if I could get it somewhere else was told I could take the whole prescription anywhere I liked- I needed to start treatment quickly, I was told the rest would be ready at 11-30 the next day- arrived at 4.30 to be told they would do it now. Didn’t ask if I knew how to use the inhaler- plus side I have all the prescription but no idea how to use the inhaler. Also do we all need to hear about the job vacancies in the area that they are applying for while waiting for our medicine?
