About
We provide a range of services for older people aged 50 and over in Blackburn with Darwen, and carers of older people. These include free Advice and Information, social groups and activities, health and care services including nailcare. We also offer services for those who are living with long term medical conditions including practical support and a dementia navigation service. In addition, we provide day care, befriending and IT/ digital support.

Advice & Information Service Free, independent advice and information for people over 50 and their carers. Advice available on pensioner benefits and entitlements; utilities, housing; and community care, plus a range of free leaflets and factsheets and signposting to other local services. Active Ageing and Social Inclusion services – provide a range of physical activities and social groups in community venues across the borough including sessions for those who are struggling with their memory or living with dementia – a small charge applies. Digital Service – support to get online and use the internet – small charge applies. Integrated Care Service – provides holistic support to those living with long term conditions and registered with a Blackburn with Darwen GP, including referrals to other providers and practical support service. Day Care Service -provided at Community centres, Monday to Friday, offering personal care and a range of therapeutic activities. In order to access the service people, need to have had an assessment of need via Adult Services. Wayfinder dementia support Service – one to one support for anyone with a dementia diagnosis to navigate the dementia journey. The service offers support with entitlements, details of social and support groups, future planning advice and a listening ear. Befriending service for housebound and socially isolated older people providing either a regular phone call or a visitor. Nail Care Service - NHS trained staff and volunteers offer a toenail cutting service together with a relaxing foot care treatment for people over 50 who are not eligible for the NHS Podiatry Service and are unable to manage their own foot care. A charge applies.
