About

We are an independent local charity, working in the districts of Copeland and Allerdale to improve the quality of life for all older people in our community.

We have the support of dedicated volunteers, who help us to raise funds and to provide a wide range of services from care or the vulnerable to opportunities for the more active retired.

9am - 4pm Monday to Friday

Access

Information and advice accessible remotely. Central office in Workington with community venues/ treatment centres in Cockermouth, Whitehaven, Egremont and Wigton. Many of our services are also dispensed at people’s homes across Allerdale and Copeland.

People aged 50+ and their carers. Information and Advice services now restricted to age 65+

Information and advice: financial benefits support and form filling Mobility aids and equipment- both to purchase and prescribed via Occupational Therapy. Included sale of pre loved aids and adaptations. This service also includes home assessment via trusted assessor. One to one support and signposting to a wide range of local services and activities to help maintain independence and well-being. This can be delivered via: 1) CommuniTEA- Paid for support with cleaning, shopping, escorting to appointments and social activities 2) Reconnecting Cumbria- support with attending groups- tackling isolation and sedentary behaviour 3) Back from Beyond- Bespoke Veterans support 4) Well@Home- a prescribed 4 week support programme for older people leaving hospital. Nail-cutting- Regular nail-cutting, basic foot care advice, checks on suitable foot care, referral for help with foot care problems. Day Care- Local Day Centres providing a range of activities, social interaction, hot meal and refreshments, mental stimulation, gentle exercise, escorted transport, occasional day trips. Activities for the over 50s- Including: lunch clubs, art and crafts, light exercise groups eg. walking football, computer classes etc plus social diaries with information on activities across Copeland and Allerdale. Befriending / Bridge Building Schemes offering short or longer term support for isolated or housebound people.
