About

BRASS is a major charity working exclusively for the benefit of asylum seekers, refugees and refused asylum seekers living within the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton. It was founded in 2001

BRASS is widely recognised for its open drop-in centre at the heart of Bolton Town Centre, and its innovative methods of teaching English to all of its service users, particularly where it gives those refugees with permission to work a better opportunity of gaining meaningful and sustainable employment.

Further information

Services Available at BRASSWeekly drop-inDestitution ProjectEmployment HelpdeskClassesFriendship and supportBRASS is concentrating some of its efforts in providing informal English classes for refugees and asylum seekers living in Bolton. Our previous experience has been that employers, particularly but not exclusively in the private sector, are unwilling to employ people with an insufficient level of English. To that end, BRASS is currently running 4 weekly classes divided in entry and intermediate levels. In addition, BRASS holds similar English classes for all other categories from the refugee and asylum seeker community. These classes are designed to improve the prospect of volunteering opportunities for both refugees and asylum seekers, including those whose application has been refused. There are volunteering opportunities for anyone wishing to help us on this project.
