Description of service
CHIVA works across the UK and Ireland to improve care for children with HIV and their families. We provide information, guidance and support for professionals, and for parents/carers, children and young people who are living with HIV. CHIVA provide an annual support camp, (in its 10th year on 2019) for up to 100 children and young people aged 11-16 years old from across the UK and Ireland who are living with HIV. CHIVA provide regional peer support, with groups of young people in the South West and Wales meeting quarterly. These groups are also accessible to younger children who are living with HIV. Alongside the peer support groups CHIVA provides an advocacy role in the local clinic. CHIVA provide short-term support interventions to families with a child living with HIV, where needed, and on a case by case basis.
