About

Cotswold RDA was founded in 1965 and is a member of the National Riding for the Disabled Association. We operate from our riding school based on Cheltenham Racecourse and keep our ponies on adjoining land. Riding facilities are provided for 150-200 adults and children on a weekly basis (including Saturdays).

Our riders are physically disabled or have learning difficulties. They all receive positive help and a real boost to their confidence during their time riding with us.

Opening times

We ride from 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday during school term time and 9am to 2pm on Saturdays during the term. We hold afterschool clubs until 6.00 pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Access

Whilst we provide ramps and easy walkways, for those riders who are in a wheelchair or may have difficulty mounting a pony from the mounting block, we have an electrically operated hoist inside the school which makes life much easier for the rider.

At Cotswold RDA we are always mindful of health & safety, and occasionally we do have riders that we cannot allow to ride. For example someone who maybe unstable could be a safety risk not only to themselves but to the ponies and/or our volunteers.  We will however always try our best to accommodate everyone.
