Service details
Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver that if untreated can cause chronic liver disease and liver cancer. Many cases occur in people born abroad and hard to reach groups, and cases in the UK are increasing.
Our specialist hepatitis B clinic provides care for patients for all types of hepatitis B. The clinic is run through a multidisciplinary expert team supported by consultants and registrars in infection and in virology, speciality physician, nurse consultant, clinical nurse specialists and liver histopathology consultant.
We actively contribute to the development of national treatment and monitoring guidelines for hepatitis B, and provide the highest possible standard of care in line with best practice.
We promote public health in Sheffield thought outreach screening in different population groups including hard to reach communities and through an innovative system for ensuring at risk newborn babies are vaccinated.
