Person Shaped Support (PSS) is an innovative and dynamic charity that has found pioneering new ways to support people within their community. They tailor their services to fit the individual requirements of each person they help. Their aim is to provide a better life for those with disabilities ranging from mental health disorders to physical impairments.

Young Carers PSS provides support services such as one-to-one support, access to counselling and advocacy to children and young people whose lives are affected by the impact of being involved in caring for a family member with a disability, chronic illness, mental ill-health or problematic use of drugs or alcohol. E-mail: youngcarerssefton@pss.org.uk Cost: Not applicableSHARED LIVES - Adult Placement This service offers alternate family care for adults who, because of their needs, cannot live independently. Individuals live with a specifically recruited carer who has been assessed, approved and carefully matched. Adult placement may provide day care, short breaks, intermediate care or long term placements in a carer's home. E-mail: adult.placement@pss.org.uk Cost: Based upon assessment Dementia BEFRIENDING The befriending service provides basic assistance to people with dementia and their carers. It gives people with dementia the opportunity to meet new people, try new things and develop a new social group. For those who care for someone with dementia it gives the time to go out and do some shopping, meet some friends or do other things they might not usually be able to. E-mail: littlethings@pss.org.uk Cost: Based upon assessmentPalliative Care Palliative Care provides support to people in South Sefton who have a life limiting illness, to enable them to remain in their own home within their community. The Project assist individuals and their families, and carers in a variety of different ways. E-mail: palliative.care@pss.org.uk Cost: Based upon assessment CARE & SUPPORT AT HOME Care and support services enable people who need additional help to live independently in their own home. They offer a wide range of housing with care and/or support to meet an individual’s personal needs and maximise their independence. E-mail: supportedliving@pss.org.uk Cost: Based upon assessment WELL-BEING CENTRESProvides an informal, friendly atmosphere, where people experiencing mental ill health and emotional distress can gain support through education, training and self-help networks. There are a variety of groups depending on the individual's needs which range from anxiety management, coping with depression, assertiveness and relaxation to support with work or study and women and men only groups.
