Service details

The National Specialist Family Service is a unique service offering residential treatment for mums and dads to address their drug and alcohol issues whilst remaining the primary carers for their children.

Children live on-site with their parents – this supports families to stay together. Parents can be single parents or couples. The service is in a rural part of Sheffield, just a short walk from local amenities and shops. Children up to the age of 10 are able to enter residential treatment with their parents and are looked after in the OFSTED registered nursery while their parents participate in treatment. The programme has three main elements: therapeutic, parenting and child development with parents working on both their own substance misuse and their parenting skills.
