Read House is Essex Blind Charity's purpose-built residential home at Frinton-on-Sea, designed for the care needs of elderly people with visual impairment, either on a permanent or short-stay basis.

However, we are happy to consider applications from people without a visual impairment who wish to find a friendly and comfortable environment, with a team of experienced care staff who are dedicated to the happiness and well-being of the residents.

Read House comprises 37 en-suite rooms, the majority of which are single. There are three twin-bedded rooms, with two rooms reserved for short-stay residents.Residents are encouraged to personalise their room by bringing in small items of furniture, pictures, photos and other mementoes.Call facilities throughout the home ensure prompt attention. Local GPs visit the home regularly and we also offer chiropody, dental treatment, optical care and hairdressing by visiting professionals.Special diets are catered for by our professional chef and throughout the home, specialist Parker baths and a walk-in shower exist for residents with limited mobility.Individual CareRead House has established a reputation for high standards and individual care. Our staff, most of whom have been with us for many years, are fully experienced in caring for senior citizens with visual impairment or those needing support in later life.
