Sexual assault referral centres offer medical, practical and emotional support to anyone who has been sexually assaulted or raped. They have specially trained pediatrician / Forensic Nurse Examiners (FNE) and support workers to care for you.

Service details
SAFE Place Merseyside is the Sexual Assault Referral Centre for the Merseyside area. At SAFE Place Merseyside they offer forensic medical examination services for both males and females who have been sexually assaulted. They have a team of highly-trained healthcare professionals who are there to support victims at their examination suite in Liverpool City Centre. They can also provide victims with emergency contraception, preventative treatments for sexually transmitted infections (STI’s) including HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) and advice on screening for STI’s at a later date.
The team of crisis workers also offer a 24 hour telephone support service which victims can ring them at any time on 0151 295 3550 and the services offers referral to an independent sexual violence advisor (ISVA) who can help if victims would like to contact the Police and / or be put in touch with a counselling services. The service operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
