About

Audiology is the study of hearing and balance disorders. The primary aim of the healthcare science is to prevent, identify and rehabilitate patients with hearing and hearing-related problems.

Audiology for Sandwell is based at the Lyng Health Centre for Social Care, located in the centre of West Bromwich. We also have outreach clinics based at Rowley Regis Hospital and Neptune Health Park, Tipton.

Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals Trust Audiology Services are accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS)

Services for Adults:

- Accurate hearing tests in sound treated rooms

- Digital hearing aid provision

- Counselling and management strategies

Access to assistive listening devices within the home

- Tinnitus management and counselling

- Vestibular assessment and rehabilitation

Services for children:

- Referrals are received from GPs, health visitors, school nurses, speech therapists and paediatricians.

- An age appropriate test will be chosen to assess your child’s hearing by one or two audiologists. This will be carried out in a sound treated room.

- Digital hearing aid provision and regular review.

AUDIOLOGY: HEARING AID REPAIR SESSIONS

In order to keep our patients and staff safe from COVID19 and avoid overcrowding in our waiting areas we ask that patients book an appointment to attend for hearing aid repairs.

Repairs

- You can post your hearing aid to us with a note explaining the problem. It is advisable to send your hearing aid by recorded delivery.

- You can make an appointment to have a face-to-face repair appointment with the audiologist – see contact details below.

Target group

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust provide a range of services for both adults and children. We provide care across Birmingham, Sandwell and the surrounding areas.
