The Lowdown is a voluntary mental health charity, providing free and confidential counselling, emotional wellbeing, sexual health and LGBTQ support services for 11-25 year olds in Northampton. We’re proud recipients of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. We’re also members of the REACH partnership of five agencies – providing professional and confidential youth counselling for young people across Northamptonshire.

Counselling service: Free and confidential counselling on any issue.Wellbeing service: Our wellbeing service offers drop-in 1:1 emotional support sessions, information, signposting and self-help materials, a young person's crisis café, activity based workshops and peer support groups.Crisis café: We offer a young person’s crisis café for anyone in Northamptonshire aged 12-18 every Monday between 4pm and 8pm at Café Track in Northampton town centre. Crisis support can be offered remotely if you are unable to make it to the café using our helpline numberRemote support helpline: Our remote support helplines are available Monday to Friday 11am to 5pm on 01604 622223, via Facebook messenger and via webchat on our website. This service is operated by one of our senior counsellors. Calls to the helpline cost the standard network rate.Outreach services: Training and workshops on issues that affect young people. Please call us to discuss your needs and pricing. We can also provide consultancy for your school, college, health centre or business, on any issues connected to young people or counselling.Sexual health services: We provide information and advice, chlamydia and gonorrhoea screening, pregnancy testing and condoms during our normal opening hours. Our nurse service offers appointments every Wednesday 1:30-3pm & 4-7pm & two Saturdays each month 1:30-4pm offering all of the above as well as ongoing and emergency contraception.LGBTQ services: Out There Youth Group is for LGBTQ young people aged 13-17 and runs every Friday 6-9pm. Out There Plus is for LGBTQ young people aged 18-25 and runs every other Wednesday 6-8pm.
