The Open Access Service provide support to patients but also to carers, family members and professionals seeking advice or signposting to other services. In a number of centres this service is enhanced by providing a harm reduction clinic to patients. The open access service provides immediate access points to treatment and help and advice. Those concerned about drug or alcohol use can access the service at a number of venues across the East Riding. The interventions offered include:

• drop in service for clients and carers

• drug-related advice and information

• needle exchange/support

• triage assessments

• signposting and onward referral

• brief interventions

• solution focussed counselling

• motivational interviewing

• cognitive behavioural groups

• recovery planning and relapse prevention groups
