About

The Volunteer Centre is a local volunteering development agency working independently to support organisations from the voluntary, community and public sectors.

In our core work we promote, support and develop volunteering and aim to make a positive impact on the quality of the volunteering experience for individual volunteers and organisations that work with them.

“We believe that volunteering is integral to delivering and supporting a diverse range of services and activities that enrich communities. Volunteering builds community capacity and helps to create cohesive, resilient communities that are better able to meet the social and economic challenges they face.“

Further information

The Volunteer Centre runs several direct services – ELDERFRIENDS, is a befriending scheme where volunteers visit lonely and socially isolated people.  Help is given on a good neighbour basis, visiting someone to keep them company, sharing interests or leisure pursuits. The Safe & Sound project helps with one off  support by providing rapid response volunteers, helping people to live independently. Derbyshire Home from Hospital Support Service provides practical support for vulnerable people leaving hospital, or those living at home but at risk of being admitted. No cost for our services.
