Baked plantain recipe
This is a great dish for your baby to learn how to dip – a tasty snack for the whole family too.
Age: 6 months or older
Prep: 5 mins
Cook: 20 mins
Portions: 4
Ingredients
- 1 plantain
- 1 to 2 tsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp plain full-fat yoghurt (one portion)
Method
Preheat the oven to 180C (fan). Slice the ends off the plantain, remove the peel and cut diagonally into thick slices.
Add the oil to a baking tray, place the plantain slices on top and make sure the oil is spread evenly (top and bottom of plantain).
Bake for around 20 minutes (turning them over halfway) until the edges are golden brown.
Leave to cool before serving. Put the plain full-fat yoghurt on the side for dipping.
For the rest of the family (over 5 years), swap to low-fat plain yoghurt.
Weaning tip
Give your baby sips of water with their meals - rather than sweet drinks which can cause tooth decay.
