Leek and potato recipe

A classic winter warmer, mashed potato mixed with tasty leeks.

Age: 6 months or older

Ingredients

  • 1 medium potato, peeled and chopped
  • 1 leek, washed and finely diced
  • 2 tbsp full-fat milk or baby's usual milk

Method

  1. Bring a pan of water to the boil and add the potato. Cook for 10 minutes.

  2. Dice the leek and add to the pan, cook for another 5 minutes.

  3. Once the vegetables are soft, drain, then add milk and mash until smooth.

  4. Information:

    Mix a teaspoon of unsalted butter into the potato while mashing for a creamier texture.

  5. If the mixture is still too thick, add a little more full-fat milk or baby's usual milk. Cool down before serving.

Weaning tip

Remember, babies do not need salt or sugar added to their food (or cooking water).
