Review titled Great experience
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Our consultant at the Conquest Hospital did an outstanding job of taking care of our 4 year old son, he was very interactive with him, he put us at ease and happily answered all our questions. He took the time to clearly asses what the problem was and explained to us clearly what was going on. We left feeling confident and extremely greatful for his care.

Review titled Exceptional repair
Rated 5 stars out of 5

From the paramedics that collected me, to A&E that assess me and the Orthopaedic Team/Ward that repaired me I cannot fault. I live on my own and breaking a femur could been very difficult but I was home in seven days, with the choice of repair enabling me to be mobile from the moment I got home.

From the first appointment for investigations, admission for surgery and care as an inpatient and follow up consultation - could not fault the care given by the staff who were very understanding during a very anxious time for myself and my family

Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Nicola Bendyhe-Brown - Posted on 21 November 2023
During my 3 days at Eastbourne Hospital I was cared for by accident and emergeny and Acute Medical Unit and the care and service was incredible. What stood out was that they were kind and considerate even though stretched and probably exhausted working with sick people every day. I couldn't fault the serice the place was immaculate and the staff attentive and professional. I am home well thanks to all of them. Thankyou

Review titled Unable to contact the a and e department
Rated 1 star out of 5

I am unable to contact anyone in a and expected. The main switch board put me through to a number that is never answered. My mother who is 90 was taken in but a can not find out if she is ok or not. This is the worst service I have ever received. Why have a depart ment you can't contact. All numbers on the Internet don't work either.

We were sorry to learn that you were unable to make contact with one of our Emergency Departments to enquire about the welfare of your mother, as we recognise how worrying this will have been. This has been highlighted to the Assistant Director of Nursing for Urgent Care and the Switchboard. We do hope you that you managed to communicate with staff, however, should you wish to discuss this matter further with a member of the Patient Experience Team, then please contact 0300 131 4784 or email esh-tr.PatientExperience@nhs.net

Review titled Made me feel at ease
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Rhiannon Ladd - Posted on 20 May 2023
Thank you very much to everyone on Gardner Ward at Conquest Hospital for your fantastic care while I was admitted for my surgery. All of the nurses, the matron, anaesthetists, everyone in the operating theatre and my consultant made me feel so at ease and made for a positive experience despite the circumstances.

Review titled Inappropriate response.
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by george - Posted on 27 April 2023
My wife was referred by qualified optometrist and given a referral to go immediately to Eastbourne hospital for urgent immediate treatment. Hospital said we should not have gone there which I disputed as we quite correctly followed the instructions of a qualified practitioner. After doing some tests my wife was told she would have to wait to see a consultant as there was not one at the hospital that day and that she would be contact sometime within the next 2 weeks to see the consultant if he considered it necessary despite the qualified optometrist advising that my wife should not wait more than 5 days to get the treatment. I therefore arranged for my wife to be appropriately and successfully commenced treatment privately at considerable expense which was a critical decision as my wires sight in one eye had had already been lost. I am not saying that all the blame should be levelled at the hospital but it highlights how the nhs has become inadequate. An appointment 2 weeks from first visit to have an appointment was today received by letter post which was now not needed. I phoned up the appointments number to cancel my appointment but gave up after a long wait and contacted the alternative number of the hospital to get their switchboard but the operator hung hung up on me for trying to insist I did not want to be put through to the appointments extension as they had failed to answer my previous call. Apparently this is going to cost the nhs gbp195 for me failing to advise them they could give my wires appointment someone else in need. Sort of normal state of affairs I think for the uk currently. Problem sending review as I splled uk and nhs with capital letter! bonkers

Dear George, We are sorry to learn of your wife's negative experience and the problems she experienced in obtaining a urgent consultant appointment, as we appreciate how worried you would have both been in terms of her eyesight. We also apologise for the problems you encountered when trying to cancel your wife's appointment and recognise how frustrating this would have been for you. If you would like to discuss these matters further with a member of the Patient Experience Team, then please contact 0300 131 4784 or email esh-tr.PatientExperience@nhs.net

Review titled Great practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended A&E at the Conquest hospital with a head injury. My care was exemplary. The staff operate as a team and at each stage I was treated with care, good humour and professionalism. My treatment was delivered as promptly as circumstances would allow, including a CT scan. I felt in very safe hands and I would commend them as a department.
