Review titled Fantastic hospital trust, awful CT department
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 June 2024
So adhering to the form I was give (before my appointment has even begun, and she asked for it back!). Thinking about my experience in Ct imaging dept it was Poor. Nurse had very poor people skills. Did not explain properly what I needed to do, did n to introduce herself. I could go on.. The booking process was fine, easy even I was NoT told how long `I would be waiting (an hour) The staff member taking the Ct colonoscopy introduced herself and was pleasant but she did make the somewhat inappropriate comment that ' you don't want to do this; I don't want to do this either".. very odd given this is her job and it could make some people very uncomfortable. She also constantly mentioned that the discomfort/pain would get worse.. in a blunt way. All proceeded well and she was encouraging and overall I was happy. Towards the end of the procedure I raised myself slightly (I was out of the machine' and a whirlwind flew out from behind the glass and barked at me to get back down as they hadn't finished. I was really taken aback and not happy to be treated as a naughty schoolgirl. looking at 2 of the three encounters (the first nurse and the screaming 2nd radiographer), I do not think they treated me with the appropriate respect and dignity. Re the question of privacy , it could haver been managed better. Fortunately I am not shy. To conclude , I have been coming to Gstt most of my adult life, gave birth at St Thomas's and have always been amazed at the ,kindness and patience of all the staff. My experience with the Ct dept at Guys has been the first major disappointment. It did not seem like a happy place to work, as no on looked it and there was an atmosphere of stress and dare I say it in one case, bordering on incompetence. Another point, someone was chewing gum in uniform!

Congratulations NHS trust you have ruined what was a perfect system where we could go and get a blood test done just by sitting and waiting now you have to book weeks in advance Why

Review titled Fantastic Trust .. poor procedures and disdain for money
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 June 2024
You know of course that tax payers' money is not really money. This would explain why the CT dept phoned me 2 days before I was due my Colonoscopy and said they would be sending the meds by Courier the next day for use the day after and would I be in? Incredible. I have no idea how much this costs the NHS and how routine it is (I got the impression it was pretty routine) but what an appalling waste of money. Given this procedure was booked way in advance there really is no excuse - it would not be tolerated in any financially accountable setting. The nurse gave me various excuses and blamed the slowness of the Royal Mail --- maybe send recorded delivery then. But courier?

Review titled Excellent care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ross Cook - Posted on 01 March 2024
I visited the Urgent Care Unit as I had concerns about my ankle but didn't think A&E was suitable. I was seen quickly and given a precautionary x-ray which showed a break to my surprise. The team were brilliant in looking after me and I was sent home having had my bloods taken with the appropriate meds and a moon boot. Very satisfied overall

Review titled What a brilliant A&E Team
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by MR KAL ROSS - Posted on 08 February 2024
Spent about 13 hours under the care of the A&E team whilst visiting London from Liverpool on a work trip. The department and staff across two shifts were outstanding. Investigations were thorough and my pain was brilliantly managed before being referred to another Trust for further treatment. The quality of care literally blew me away. Thanks so much to all of you. All the best.

Rated 1 star out of 5

Sent for urgent MRI from doctor’s surgery due to fluid leaking from ear and nose with incredible head/neck pain . A&E Nurse and receptionist said no and go back to your GP ?? What is going on with NHS I have paid my national insurance, pay thousand in taxes every year and the nhs staff want our support! They don’t support us! appalling treatment especially when one feels scared anyway! nurse was like a prison warden , very intimidating .

I had a fibroid embolisation on 13/09/2023. I wad made to wait for 5 hours to receive tta medication. By that time I had nobody to escort me home. I had to leave with a heavy bag (I was informed no heavy lifting) and have been taking dihydracodomol, paracetamol, liquid morphine, ibuprofen. This wad a very unsafe discharge and I pray I make it home safe
