  2. Review titled Cardiology appointment line

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Colin Arthur Ellis - Posted on 28 June 2024

The telephone line to Cardiology appointments is not being answered. On Friday 28th June I was on the line for four hours the waiting line reduced as expected but when it reached queue number one nothing happened for 42 minutes. Totally I spent almost 3 hours trying to get through. I also tried the on-line service which did not recognise my wife's referral details. This is not only not acceptable but thoroughly frustrating. Phone lines should never not be attended. My faith in the service is slowly evaporating.

  3. Review titled Not Great!

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 01 June 2024

My husband was referred to A&E by his GP. He had a resolved fracture in his foot but a very distorted unresolved area of swelling. The intake receptionist was very rude to all patients. Perhaps the sign next to her instructing patients to be polite should have been directed at her. The intake was in a cramped, understaffed portacabin. The Dr did not even examine his foot and said there was nothing they could do and sent us on our way. The area outside A&E was covered in litter, used gloves and general filth. This is shocking, clean it! The parking area is cramped, overpriced and inadequate. By their nature, hospital visits are not fun, and we are lucky to have our NHS but come on NGH, this was shameful!

  4. Review titled Massive thank you

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anna Sutton - Posted on 03 June 2024

Would just like to say a massive thank you for all of the staff working on A and E. Was crazy busy but the staff kept the place calm and were incredibly nice and friendly. Even when feeling sorry for myself they made me smile. Very caring and had high spirits considering the pressures they are all under

  5. Review titled SDEC staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Jackie Martin - Posted on 23 May 2024

My mother was referred to SDEC by our GP for blood transfusions. It was a very long day due to the nature of the procedure, but this was made bearable by the kind and caring staff in that department. My mother is nearly 90 and was quite frightened as our day started so early, but we were dealt with pretty quickly and she was offered sandwiches and drinks, and made to feel comfortable. I was kept informed at all times as to what was happening and when. We both felt very relaxed and looked after throughout the day and the transfusions were dealt with efficiently. I have no doubt she will need more in the future, and our experience yesterday has made her feel more relaxed about further visits. Thank you all very much.

  6. Review titled The most stressful unjoined up care experience

by Anonymous - Posted on 11 April 2024

Relative was discharged, then worsened. Treated poorly by ambulance crew. Then held in A&E for 4 days before going to a ward, in a dirty, stuffy assessment bay. Nurses did their best but could not provide round the clock care that was needed. So much advocacy was needed for basic things, like food and medicine. When I managed to get through to PALS (took two days), a room appeared. But patient was rushed out. Constant care plan and discharge changes, not done in collaboration with patient or family. Threatened to discharge a vulnerable elderly patient at 7pm at night. Contradicting opinions given all the way through. So stressful. We will never go back. It’s full of amazing people but it’s broken. A sad state of affairs when you feel being in hospital is more detrimental to your health than being at home - despite needing care.

  10. Review titled Radiotherapy

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Michael Davis - Posted on 10 January 2024

Absolutely brilliant staff. So knowledgeable, friendly, humorous and relaxing. They made something I was approaching with a lot of trepidation wholly relaxing and comforting. The procedure itself was carried out with obviously very much knowledge and professionalism. Superb treatment. Thank you very much all, including the radiotherapy manager who was extremely helpful.
