Waiting for prescription service to dispense melatonin for my little boy, caused us to miss our main appointment, even though we rang 1 hour before appointment as advised.

Attended with hand injury. Department busy but seen within reasonable time by a very competent and friendly practitioner. Thorough assessment and sensible management. Reviewed 2 days later, same practitioner, equally excellent service. Thank you

Review titled Horrible service
Rated 1 star out of 5

I have been trying to get treatment for the past 2 days. I called to see if I could make an appointment, as I am unable to wait for up to 5 hours due to heavy bleeding. I was told that there’s nothing they can do as they cannot make appointments. As a tax payer we pay towards NHS services by force, we don’t get a choice. I’d much rather pay towards private healthcare insurance instead of the NHS because at least they take you seriously. When the NHS is ready to see me I would have probably already bled to death at home. When you speak to the NHS it’s like they’re doing you a favour. But we pay them through our taxes

Review titled Paediatric ED and Ward 10 RVI fab staff and service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Gemma M - Posted on 24 April 2023
Myself and my partner had to bring our newborn daughter into the hospital as she wasn’t keeping her feeds down. This was a very stressful time made worse by the fact that I was recovering from a c section. The staff in ED both doctors and nurses were very supportive and couldn’t do enough for us to ensure we were comfortable and our daughter was treated quickly. We were then transferred to ward 10 where the nurses took fantastic care of us throughout our stay. The nurses were very knowledgeable and able to offer support and advice as to how to manage our daughters problem while in hospital and at home. The surgical and paediatric registrars/consultants were also fantastic and very thorough and we can’t thank the whole team enough.

Review titled Lovely staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Maxine - Posted on 27 April 2023
Recently in for surgery under general anaesthetic at Leazes Wing, plastic surgery department. Was nervous. Staff were great and put me at ease immediately. Was looked after very well, the ward staff were clearly busy but remained pleasant and kind to all. I felt safe and that they were all there for the benefit of every patient.

Review titled Very poor reception staff RVI
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 18 January 2024
Visited the RVI today and needed to ask reception in the leazes wing next to Costa coffee a couple of simple questions, there attitude was disgusting never been spoken to and looked at like that before. They should find a job elsewhere as all they seemed concerned about was chatting to each other. People are coming into a hospital to generally see ill people and find these surroundings quite uncomfortable to start off with, to be greeted by two unpleasant faces is the last thing anybody needs. Really poor rude people.
