  1. Review titled Not impressed

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 November 2024

I’m not one to review but I was really bothered by this. I called up as I wanted to visit the clinic today. I’ve rung a few places round me where the open hours are wrong, or there are certain departments not open the whole time, so I rang to check if I could come in today and if my issue matched what they do. It’s not nice ringing up and telling someone about ur health issues and the lady on the call couldn’t have been more rude and unfriendly. I was really disappointed and upset that someone in a health care facility would be so rude for no reason.

  2. Review titled Efficient and friendly

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I presented with an injured wrist, was triaged, x-rayed and diagnosed in two hours on a very busy Saturday morning. The system was efficient and the level of care very good. All the staff who saw me worked well and with good humour despite the pressure on them. Keep up the good work!

  3. Review titled Lovely staff

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Local mum - Posted on 13 October 2024

I wanted to write a review because I think some of the others are a bit unfair. I took my 6 Yr old with a wrist injury to get it checked and it wasn't too busy early on Sat morning but yes, as you would expect on a weekend, it got very busy in the afternoon. Patients were triaged very quickly, we were able to get an xray onsite and the medical staff all looked after my very nervous daughter very well. Please be kind to the receptionists who have no control over wait times or the order in which patients are seen. I get it, people are sick or injured and distressed/emotional but you've just got to wait it out, it's not the fault of the staff. It would have been useful to know that xray doesn't open until 1pm but we still would have had the same waiting time of around 3.5-4 hrs for her post xray consultation then a bit longer for her cast to be applied afterwards. My only slight concern was the water ran out in the reception area (we brought our own anyway) and it did get very hot and stuffy in the waiting area but again none of this is the fault of the staff its due to the volume of patients requiring treatment. I think if you've a minor injury this service is great and frees up A&E staff in hospitals to deal with more serious conditions.

  5. Review titled An excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Gordon Canham - Posted on 13 October 2024

Went to the Beacon this morning . Had never been there before and needed advice and treatment for a burn on my foot. From the point of entry until leaving I was impressed by all the members of staff I saw. They provided excellent support and were able to adequatley assist with my injury providing everything that I needed to put my mind at rest and hopefully put me on the road to recovery answering any questions that I asked.

  6. Review titled Chaotic reception area, rude reception staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 October 2024

I was asked for visit by 111. I was triaged within 30 mins but not seen for 3 hrs. At no point was I told the waiting times. Patients were frustrated and children with head injuries not seen quickly. Some had bleeding head wounds and visible facial swelling. There was no feedback to patients who therefore become angry and anxious. The reception staff had a change over while I was there and again, no effort was made to manage or apologise to the patients waiting to be seen. It is as if the patients do not exist and are an inconvenience. The contrast with the Dr, when seen, was very obvious. The Dr was kind, courteous and compassionate. The reception staff rude arrogant and unprofessional.

  7. Review titled Very unpleasant experience with rude staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

Went to centre with a friend 2 reception staff on 1 of the reception staff was extremely rude to patients, I understand that it is frustrating when the same question is asked all the time but the way she spoke to people was disgusting I work in a extremely busy doctors surgery and we would never talk to people like that no matter how stressed or busy we are she should not be dealing with the public

  8. Review titled Faster and more efficient than local hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I've always had positive experiences and always prefer to visit the Beacon for urgent care issues, than my local hospital. I visited this week during the day with my grandmother, in order for her injured/swollen finger to be attended to. The receptionist was pleasant and we were seen pretty quickly by the triage nurse (within 20mins). The triage nurse was also friendly and asked key questions in order to determine the criticality of the injury. We then saw the medical professional within 1.5 hours of arrival and again it was a pleasant and friendly experience, although the clinic was by that point becoming very busy and they appeared short staffed. My grandmother's injury was quickly assessed and a prescription raised - all very thorough and all of my queries were answered. I'll always recommend this clinic, as this will always be the preference to spend a few short hours vs half a day in A&E

  9. Review titled Good service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 September 2024

I am writing as I am surprised at all the negative views posted of this service. I think it is great that we have somewhere to be seen when there are no GP appointments, but we do not have to travel to A&E and wait for many hours. The receptionists were pleasant and polite, the triage nurse, who I saw quickly, was friendly and effcient. I had to wait 2 hours, which is tedious, but to be expected. When I was seen, the doctor was thorough and polite, prescribing medication and advising me to go to A&E if no better after 48 hours. I have been previously and had a similar experience.

  10. Review titled Rude and patronising doctor

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Mother - Posted on 04 September 2024

I rushed my 8 week old baby in after her 8 week jabs as she had screamed, inconsolably cried and was clearly in abdominal pain that couldn't be soothed 5 hours after the vaccines. As per the guidelines, it states that if these symptoms occur you should get to a doctor urgently as their is a small risk of blocked bowel from rotavirus vaccine and she was clearly struggling. The lady on triage was kind and said always trust instincts. We waited for 4 hours to be seen and by the third hour baby calmed and finally had been to the toilet which lowered my concern. I highlighted this to triage who said you are next so may aswell be seen as you've waited. Better to be safe. I then saw the patronising doctor who didn't even look at my baby who nodded her head as if to say "and, what do you expect?" Whilst I tried to hurriedly explain why I was there. She said I saw you feed and change her. There's nothing wrong with her, she's fine" in such a patronising way. I explained that I was less concerned since feeding and changing her as she's now been to the toilet and that I was happy to go home but was told to wait and she said "yeh we'll they have to book everyone in". This woman made me feel small and stupid on an already stressful day. I was following guidelines and am a mother of 2 who is not paranoid and I don't appreciate being made to feel it especially by somebody who should know the guidelines and not expect us to have a doctors knowledge. Her irritation was obvious and she should have far better social skills. Don't lose the ability to have empathy during your practice. Especially for mothers of babies. This tone and mindset is unacceptable and you should never be complacent. She stood infront of me and didn't even examine my baby or allow me to sit to explain we were in and out and feeling small in less than 2 minutes after a four hour wait. She needs to do better. I hope that in future doctors keep in mind a) their own guidelines and advice of what to do in specific circumstances and b) to be compassionate to patients. Particularly mothers of small babies. We are not doctors we are parents and I I feel there could be something wrong I will always be safe than sorry everytime. Encourage mothers to trust their instincts- don't patronise or dismiss.
