  1. Review titled Appalling service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 September 2022

Went in on 01 Sep, was seen after 6 hours by 3 different doctors who told me i might have eye cancer but not sure so will do an urgent referral to London Hospital and i would hear back within days, only to chase up myself 8 days later to find out no referral has been made, now on day 12 chasing this Dr and trying to get through, have tried every option on the telephone service to get through and no one answers the phone, the one lady who did said she cant help and cut me off after waiting in the queue for 57 minutes at being no1 in the queue!!! Absolutely disgraceful!!!!

I am very sorry to hear about your experience when you were seen at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Hospital and the further distress the lack of contact has caused. This is not the kind of care we expect to be given at our Trust and we’d like to help you promptly. Please contact Lead Nurse for Ophthalmology, Laura Young via laura.young4@nhs.net with your details so that she can expedite this for you immediately. Kind regards, Richard Beeken, Chief Executive.

  2. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 November 2022

Attended the centre with my daughter, groaned when I saw the 3 hours waiting time, but she was seen very quickly by different members of the team. Everyone was professional and polite. We were out within 2 hours, even though it was very busy. Great service from the BMEC.

  4. Review titled You need to sort out your phone lines

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by harj - Posted on 07 September 2022

Your phone lines are enough to make people cry. Going from one person to another, being told you are number 8, to get down to number one and then a voicemail box which is full. I have spent the whole of my day today on 7/9/22 trying to ensure the appointment for my mum next week is correct to see the doctor she was told she needs to see. But just get told clinics are full and booked into a slot where the doctor she needs to see is not on site. no one listens and the phone line's just send your round in circles. being told the lines are until 4pm, but shockingly after 3pm they 'secretary does not take calls ' As someone that understands systems even I feel deflated, hate to think how a vulnerable person who feel in this system. When seen in clinic service is great by nurses and doctors but someone senior needs to call the call centre and test it, I think even you would be shocked by the wait and responses.

  5. Review titled No one cares

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Michelle Cooper - Posted on 20 July 2022

Elderly father waiting for appointment for cataract, received letter advising him to ring on 19th July if he has not heard anything, so he did. Was told there’s at least a 6 month waiting list. Told the member of staff about the pain in his eyes and cannot now read anymore ,but no one cares It’s just a matter of time before he falls and has a serious injury
