  1. Review titled Awful experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 August 2024

You always hear that NHS is under pressure but not having knowledge and compassion is actually not a fault of pressure or overworked staff .... I had a high hopes when we got letter with appointment, and as someone who went through therapy and assessments similar to this I was hoping my child would have equally good experience and will get lots of benefits....but I couldn't be more disappointed. I am actually frustrated, how can you employ people who have no idea what they doing, there is so much damage done through careless and unprofessional behaviour like that. We had a guy who was cheeky and dismissive, I felt many times like some staff like eating disorder etc was actually imposed on my child, my child come out of the meeting with tears and said that it felt like school when you judged by mean girls! How am I going to convince her that she will find a help she needs????? I felt judged too, as a parent, all my words where dismissed and questioned! I felt humiliated. Is that how you supposed to feel when you take a big step like this and ask for help??? We were very lucky that we have previously experienced people who actually know what they doing and the therapist we had were amazing full of compassion and warmth..... This left me in tears and confused and stressed. My child didn't want to proceed with getting help from you because she felt uneasy during this meeting! You have made her feel worse not better, dismissed not understood, you have made her feel like noone understands! Noone will help her. But you were very quick to judge and imply other problems even tho she clearly specified that it's not an issue for her. Its so disappointing that words can't describe how I feel.

  2. Review titled absolutely useless service

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 June 2024

Got referred back here for crippling anxiety that made me unable to even attend lessons, or go outside. Got told they’d see me before GCSEs. Currently have 5 GCSEs left, haven’t heard a thing. Apparently I may have been completely removed from the waiting list. My mental health is at an all time low, and I haven’t seen a single ounce of support.

  3. Review titled Disgusting waste of time.

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jo Tetley - Posted on 01 June 2024

The GP referred my 7 year old to CAMHS as I believe he has ARFID, an eating disorder. After a 30 minute phone call to take information I received 2 more phone calls to say they can’t help because 1. ARFID is a new eating disorder and they have nobody in their eating disorder team who deals with it. This is really not my son’s fault and surely if I know about it and children have died from it they should train someone up and/or refer him to someone who does know about treatments! 2. It’s not a mental health condition! Yes it is. He has a fear of choking so barely eats due to his anxiety! So they have told me to speak to a dietitian/paediatrician even though CAMHS are supposed to deal with children, mental health and eating disorders. CAMHS practitioners should be ashamed. They simply slam the door in your face if they are not sure what to do or if your child doesn’t fit into their categories for help. What a joke!

  4. Review titled Discharged too quickly.Pleasant staff but faster referalls needed and therapy treatment needed before a problem becomes severe..

by Eve - Posted on 19 April 2024

It was a pleasure meeting staff. Very nice people. Too long of a waiting list.Begged over 5 years for a referall for my son to be tested for Adhd.it was not done.I had to do courses to learn about challenging behavious and dyslexia. After receiving Appointments he was tested for Adhd&Autism. He was diagnosed with both and discharged. No therapy provided even though I asked several times for it. I showed evidence of the behaviours. The staff said therapy is provided if its moderate/severe or if the child is aggressive. I don't agree to wait for the person to have a huge mental breakdown, then refer and then be on a waiting list. It's best to treat before it gets bad.Looks like he will go on another big waiting list if he ever needs help if i was to ask for a referall. Its not fair A quick fix with medication isn't always the answer.Therapy or combination of treatment maybe. I also asked for a referall in terms of his abnormal blood test results being abnormal twice. If he ever needs to be medicated whether it be medication for Adhd or autism or antibiotics for perhaps a virus he may have. Some say on the labels "do not take if person has certain health conditions".So if blood tests are abnormal then further testing is better. But I beg and it don't work. You feel alone in this world without help. Adults go on a huge waiting list and so do children. It's not fair as they are children.

  5. Review titled Nice staff but failed us

Rated 1 star out of 5

Lovely staff but no support. Had to pay to go private to get correct assessments even though other professionals referred to cahms. Only offer of support was parenting courses no actual help for my child. Would not recommend

  6. Review titled Waste of my time!

Rated 1 star out of 5

We had to drive nearly an hour and half to get here just to be told she gave eye contact and spoke so she isn’t autistic followed by she shows traits of autism! Asking if a 3 year old can read (what does that have to do with anything?) The woman we saw even saw my daughter stimming and she still went on to say she’s fine! Theses are meant to be professionals and yet they don’t know the difference types on autism.

  7. Review titled Deflating and disappointing first experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Trish - Posted on 05 May 2024

Finally after a year my daughter finally got her first appointment. I have never dealt with a service provider shockingly as bad as Camhs. No support for my daughter or myself on the day, they failed to retrieve documents and professionals reports and official diagnosis. Also failed to get her reports from her Sen School. The questions they asked of my daughter was unprofessional and inappropriate given her specific needs. I was uncomfortable, and found it really hard to bite my tongue, considering I've made a huge effort to retrain and get qualified to provide my daughter the support she needs. They have access and the means to get all of her paperwork,Ehcp's and professional reports but they didn't bother. The 2hr appointment had to be cut short due to the distress it caused my daughter. I am perplexed to how the CQC hasn't put them under review or special measures considering the service that was provided on the day. I left that appointment feeling deflated, frustrated, angry, and awful. I can't imagine how other Sen parents, and children/young adults who have more needs, and require more intervention feel. This service provider isn't fit for purpose, it requires more funding. Hopefully the next appointment is better, I've had to get her school, educators and psychologist involved due the experience and awful service we had on the day.

  8. Review titled If I worked like they did I'd be sacked.

Rated 1 star out of 5

My daughter was referred here for an eating disorder. Their only input has been to send home a massive photocopied pile of "advice" (which at 17 she can't be bothered to even read never mind take notice of), stay off school for several months (in her final few months of 6th form - very helpful) and arrange loads of appointments which require her dad to take time off work to drive her to (1 hour journey each way) and then the person she is supposed to be seeing claims the appointment was never made. These people are useless. They are messing with young people's lives and need to be reliable, proactive and accountable. They are none of those. Absolutely disgusting service. Weeks and weeks of their interference and there has been no improvement whatsoever. I suspect they are taking the approach that at nearly 18 she soon won't be their problem. Shameful.

  9. Review titled Terrible!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sean - Posted on 07 March 2024

Simply wanted to remove my autistic son from their waiting list because he was no longer hallucinating at that point in time! Shocking service, took a year to get anywhere with them and then simply to want to remove a child with additional needs and mental health issues!!

  10. Review titled Not for purpose

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 18 July 2024

3 referrals put in. Twice by me and once by the doctor. All 3 rejected! 3rd one they rejected after a year of waiting. Apparently a 5 minute phonecall barely taking any details of the issues my son is having is enough to decide he doesn't need support. Meanwhile my sons issues are escalating. Zero compassion and no interest whatsoever in helping. Absolutely useless
