  1. Review titled Inhuman service

Rated 1 star out of 5

Been contacted Camhs Rapid Response for an emergency/crisis situation... Weeks passed by and literally no help is available!!! Nurses, who took our calls showed no or very little sympathy and understanding, given wrong advice and multiple times have not returned our calls. We have been badly let down !!!

We are so sorry to hear this was your experience of our CAMHS crisis services. If you wish to feedback via our PALS department within LPFT by telephone on 01529 222265 or via email on lpft.pals@nhs.net we can look into your particular case and feedback. Otherwise we will share your feedback within the service that you did not feel our staff understood or showed any sympathy and ask that they are mindful of how they present themselves in the future. 2. Review titled Camhs failed me

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mia Baxter - Posted on 27 February 2023

I have been in camhs on and off for 2 or 3 years now, and I have now finally left. I have hated every moment. The people that treated me didn't talk to me as if I was a human. I was talked to and treated very rudely, and one staff member who I had twice made me cry multiple times from how rude she was. Everyone I saw seemed to have something against formal testing for literally anything, something that is really important to me because I struggle immensely in my daily life and just wanted to find out why. The disregard my counsellor had when I brought up the fact that I thought I was autistic was also very upsetting to me- and turns out I am autistic, she just had no idea what to look for. The sessions I had did nothing for me at all, and it was literally pointless stuff like picking out postcards I liked and moving them around on a piece of paper- rather then actually delving into my mental health issues which was why I was there in the first place. I have been told I am attention seeking, told to have a 'cup of tea' or try to 'meditate and have a bath' when I was on the verge of a severe breakdown. The emergency staff I've had also had no idea how to deal with me and so ended up being very rude or just sitting in silence staring at a wall because I didn't strike up conversation with them (I'd rather not talk about horses after what just happened, thanks!). After the worst possible point of my issues happened and I was sent in an ambulance to hospital, a blood test was run, and then I was literally sent home after no more then 2 hours. Didn't stay overnight, didn't have a mental health check up, nothing. The one time I did stay overnight in the hospital the lady (the one who made me cry multiple times on two different occasions) said to my face that I should have just gone home because I was using up a bed that somebody who actually needed it could have had. I honestly cannot believe what happened to me over the years I've been with camhs. There's not enough characters to go through everything, and I'm trying to be tactful with how I talk about it all. I have many friends who have been with them and we all had similar experiences- we actually talked in my special ed school about how poorly camhs treated all of us. This is not just my experience. Camhs has failed hundreds of children. I would never recommend using this service, and it needs to change asap before more harm is done! Hopefully this is all coherent.

  4. Review titled Lacking empathy

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 November 2022

I was referred to camhs via the autism pathway when I was 14 after struggling for several months, I am now 17. I received conformation that I met the criteria to have an assessment, however after emailing them they said I would likely get an assessment after I have turned 18. My mental health greatly declined while on the waiting list so I made a second referral to the anxiety and depression pathway when I was 16. After emailing them they said that although I met the criteria I would not be able to receive any help from them because I would be over 18 by the time I reach the top of the waiting list and therefore too old to receive help from camhs. When I was 17 I had to go to a+e because of my mental health. I waited 16 hours to see the camhs crisis team, where they told me to refer myself to talking therapies (a service where they had previously told me not to refer myself to) then they discharged me. I made a referral to talking therapies however they currently have a 6 month waiting list. In the three and a bit years I have been on the camhs waiting lists the only contact I received was when I wanted to kill myself, with the advice being 'look somewhere else'.

  5. Review titled Useless pointless service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 19 November 2022

CAHMs say that their there to support people with mental health assess for autism and adhd and so forth I have had dealings with these over the last 15 years and over them years they have gone from worse to worse they don’t care for the individual they don’t deal with the individual in a person centred way they assume everyone is the same and should see the same patterns. Their is no compassion or support for family’s. The service needs taking over by another service who want to to actually do the job and support family’s and the individual in person centred way. Absolutely pointless service

  6. Review titled Clearly underfunded. Badly run service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 November 2022

I would even go so far as to say that this service causes more mental health anxiety than it helps. Hugely underfunded and understaffed. We've been under the crisis team twice. Different people call each day and ask the same to k box questions basically checking that my child hasn't found a knife but no advice, help, empathy at all. The psychological assessment was more of a parents assessment and not child focussed at all. Offered aromatherapy after 8 months on waiting list. My child is autistic with sensory issues and has severe anxiety and ocd. Why would you offer this? Finally got offered 6 weeks of online resilience and wellbeing which starts next year and then received a discharge letter. No call to check on my child. He's still in crisis so we're back to going to the hospital where although he shows no sign of aggression and is highly anxious, the doctors wanted restrain and sedate him then force feed him. I'm lost for words. This is the state of our mental health services and support for our children in this country. Just horrendous and camhs needs to be completely re structured and needs better staff training, clearly more funding and management who understand what 'care' means.

We are so sorry to hear your experience was not a positive one when using our CAMHS services. Our aim is to ensure that everyone who needs it has access to our services that will benefit their mental and physical wellbeing, not cause more anxiety and I’m sorry you feel this is the case. We are always happy to review our care and treatment plans with young people and their parent/carers if something is not working. When using a team approach to work with young people we always try and use a limited number of staff but this is not always possible with shift work and limited staff availability. We are sorry that you waited so long for treatment and have been working hard to improve this for young people and families accessing our services. Our Children and young people services are currently being reviewed, if you would like to participate in this review or be involved in helping us improve our services please look at our website for details: https://www.lpft.nhs.uk/young-people/lincolnshire/whats-new/have-your-say Kind regards, Emma Houltby, Service Manager
