  1. Review titled Colonoscopy

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stephen Powell - Posted on 02 February 2023

I had a Colonoscopy today and I just wanted to say that the staff right from the receptionist to the nurses to the people who carried out the procedure were brilliant, I was put at ease and talked through all that was happening and going to happen. Made something I was not looking forward to at all go smoothly. Thanks to you all.

Had endoscopy carried out today with great care. Dr. and staff provided outstanding care and totally put me at ease. I have to say the endoscopy had very little discomfort and was done in no time at all. Thank you so much to the very pecious people who work there, including recetion to our wonderful medical staff.

  4. Review titled Superb Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by John James Allen Hindmarsh - Posted on 05 February 2023

Diagnosed with blood in poo 13 Jan, phone call from Eccleshill 17 Jan, Colonoscopy assessment 18th Jan, procedure 20 Jan. Absolutely excellent service. All involved were very caring, thoughtful and empathetic throughout. At 74, I was initially very concerned but the way I was treated was so reassuring. Even during the procedure, the nurse chatting away to me took my mind off of what was happening, and the procedure report by the Dr. was clear and concise. Well Done to all involved, one couldn't fault the process in any way, yet another example of the superb service the NHS carries out daily. Thank You.

  5. Review titled Poor communication, wait times and never answer the phone

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 December 2022

I was told I needed wait and see a particular consultant for my results and couldn’t be given over the phone. When I attended the appointment it was the guy now seen for month only to be told he doesn’t understand my result as he’s not a specialist in that area and I now need to be referred to someone else. I waited 9/10 weeks to be told nothing useful at all and to be fobbed off to someone else now. I have tried for several days now to chase up a referral as instructed by my GP to do, I been first in the queues for well over an hour every time I have called and still no-one answers the phone. Very poor service, although staff are nice in person.

Dear Patient I am saddened to hear of your experience of our service, this is not what we wanted for you. Please accept our sincere apologies for you not getting to see the correct Consultant after having to wait as you had, and for having to wait on the phones like that. There is no reason why you would need to wait so long on the phone as the lines are not busy enough to warrant that. We have literally just implemented a new phone system that I think you have just experienced so something has gone wrong there as that wait should just not happen. I will discuss both the above incidents with our team to try and understand what has gone wrong. If does however help if we have the patient name, and in this case the telephone number that you called us on, so that we can look into the exact case. If you are able to provide your personal details can I please ask you to try our phones again and leave the info with the receptionist and ask them to pass it to Julie Winterbottom. I will then look into this in detail and provide you with an updated response.

  6. Review titled Poor patient experience

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Unhappy patient - Posted on 12 September 2022

Unfortunately if you expect a high standard of patient care here, you will be very disappointed. Communication is very poor, it was obvious that the agency staff member treating me took a dislike to me just because I asked questions about my care! There was no communication unless I asked or requested information and no eye contact. No talking me through what was happening or asking my preference or if I was okay. Basic healthcare seemed to be an effort, the chair I was instructed to sit on as not clean so I cleaned it myself. I did not feel able to ask questions due to her attitude towards me however I still did ask questions politely saying please and thank you, with no response from her. I remained professional even though she was not. I would not recommend attending the Meadows Day Case Unit. I did ring after I left the unit to speak to the Sister in charge, however I was unable to get through and was feeling very tired and unwell so just wanted to get home. Awful experience but grateful for receiving my treatment. Manners, kindness and empathy towards those you treat costs nothing! Perhaps some training in communication and basic healthcare would be beneficial to certain staff, after all nursing is supposed to be a caring profession no matter how demanding the job. Thank goodness I was only there for some simple treatment, I would not feel safe or trust having any difficult procedures here.

I am sorry to hear of your poor experience as know that is not the provider of the service would have wanted for you. I do however believe this review has been posted against the wrong organisation as it mentions the Meadows Day Case Unit. That is not us.
