  1. Review titled Unwelcoming reception staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Maria Ilie - Posted on 21 November 2022

Yesterday I used the urgent care centre. I have tonsilitis, and the 111 services directed me there since the GP was closed. I wouldn't usually go to urgent care because I know how overwhelmed they are, but I desperately needed to end the terrible pain I was in. The reception staff was one "eye roll" away from making me return home, but the pain was sharper. We both had our masks on, and it was tough to understand her, and she was not making it any easier; I had to shout even if I was in a lot of pain; whenever I asked her to repeat her question, she rolled her eyes. Not to mention how she "commanded" me the indications when she took my blood pressure and temperature. She said three times that I would wait for 5 hours until I would be seen. I know that the service is overwhelmed and the staff might be tired; I am sure it is not easy to deal with so many people simultaneously. However, a little kindness and respect wouldn't hurt. I didn't even mind waiting, but I spent the time there feeling sorry for myself after this experience. The nurse who was at triage was very helpful, and so was the doctor who saw me.

  2. Review titled Highly understaffed!

Rated 1 star out of 5

I’m a huge supporter of the NHS but sadly this department is too understaffed to be effective. With 4+ hour waiting time even for tiny children they seem unable to prioritise patients or show any urgency. Whilst some staff are amazing, they have to deal with a lot and now there’s a big sign where you can’t even ask how long the wait time is or check you’ve not been forgotten. There was no drinking water left in the machine and an overcrowded waiting room and not enough parking. People are using this service who probably don’t need it. And therefore the people that desperately need it can’t get what they need. If it continues this way, I feel very worried for everyone. Please give this department more budget and stop people taking advantage of it!

  3. Review titled Unreasonable waiting time

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Mohan - Posted on 22 July 2022

My wife was in extreme pain and we visited the centre for help. The receptionist told us there’s a 4 hour waiting time. I looked around the waiting room and there were just three people waiting to be seen. Also, I was asked to leave my wife and wait outside. My wife couldn’t even sit due to the pain. I couldn’t leave her so decided to leave. My GP wouldn’t even give us an appointment. Finally, I booked a private doctor. My wife had Shingles. I’m very disappointed with the whole experience.

Hello Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent experience of visiting our service. We do endeavour to make waiting times as short for our patients as we are able we are, however, a service that accepts patients from different sources, the 111 service, other health care professionals and patients that walk in as well as having other clinics running from our rooms. These patients all have varying degrees of need; some will need our GPs to go to their homes whilst some will need to be seen ahead of patients that have been waiting due to their clinical need. We are sorry that, on this occasion, your waiting time was longer than we would have hoped for, we welcome all comments so that we can continue to strive to improve the service we deliver. Kind regards MKUCS
