The minute I walked in I was treat wonderful, all the staff were so friendly and jovial that it was a pleasure to be there. The cataract was removed and a new lens put in place with no bother and the wonderful person that performed this operation kept me informed the whole time as to what was happening but all I saw was a bright light and felt nothing. I can’t thank them all enough, very well done everyone, and thank you so much. I can’t wait for my other eye to be done.

Had both cataracts removed and on each visit the staff were very friendly and helpful and they go out of their way to keep you at ease. I was in and out of surgery in less than 15 minutes. The building is very clean and well kept.

Newmedica provides a re-assuringly high level of care and efficiency in both its clinical and surgical processes. Patient comfort and confidence are clearly central to the way they conduct their interactions with those receiving medical care. There is some room for improvement in the content of their invitation letters and accompanying information sheets, however. Their letter inviting a patient for surgery asks the individual to bring spectacles with them - these are not needed by the surgical staff or nurses on the first floor. Also this letter suggests sunglasses might be helpful if worn after the surgical procedure but does not inform the patient that no patch will be applied to the eye; this omission fails to confirm to the patient that it will be possible to wear sunglasses after the procedure. The location map used by Newmedica is not at all helpful to those travelling by bus because it does not show where the bus stops are located in relation to Newmedica's premises. This is a particular problem for those arriving from Newcastle as opposed to those travelling from Northumberland.

First class experience! Very professional & caring nursing staff & a top notch surgeon, who filled me with confidence. I can’t recommend them highly enough for cataract surgery.

The staff provide a friendly, comfortable and clean environment and obviously work well together as a team. The surgery itself was painless and the surgeon explained what he was doing during the surgery which helped to allay any fears. In all, a very good experience - well done!!

It was my second surgery, so I wasn't as nervous going in as I was the first time but still quite nervous. There was a girl that took me all the way around, and I was never left alone once I went up. She kept me calm while we waited for the anaesthetic drops to get to their full effect. The consultant doing my surgery was incredibly friendly and cracked a few jokes, which also helped to. He had a really soothing voice, too, and kept checking in on me as he carried out my surgery. Honestly, what isn't exactly a comfortable experience was made a lot easier by this clinic. They do amazing work, and I would recommend it to anyone who needs it.
