  1. Review titled Great service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was unable to get an appointment with my own GP within several days so went to the walk in around 4:30pm on December 14th. When I went the displayed wait time was 5.5 hours which concerned me. However I was seen by the triage after about 60 minutes or so, and then an hour later was seen by an advanced practitioner. Both medics were very professional and helpful. They listened to my health concern and were able to diagnose me and prescribe antibiotics. They were also able to inform ne as to where I could get the medication that evening, as some of the pharmacies had shortage issues. Seen and dealt with within 2.5 hours, much easier to access medical help than via my own GP at present.

  3. Review titled Understaffed and not very compassionate

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 09 October 2022

Having attended Sunday morning to be told there was a 2 1/2 hour wait I booked in. When asking about an update due to parking charges the receptionist was very blunt and came across as rude when updating that the waiting time has increase for another 1 1/2 hours on top of the original time. After 2 hours I got to see the triage nurse. This nurse was clearly over worked. She was very blunt and again came across as rude. The centre needs to increase the staffing to take pressure off and also train the staff in customer services.

  4. Review titled Worth the wait

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had to wait a couple of hours, but once I got seen by the nurse practitioner I felt the wait was worth it. They were very professional and went the extra mile to make sure I got the help I needed. Thanks

  5. Review titled Absolutely Brilliant.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mr Alan Clifton - Posted on 31 August 2022

Whilst on holiday in the area, I caught an infection. I attended a local pharmacy where the pharmacist basically diagnosed my problem but could not deal with it. They recommend that I attend the drop-in centre providing directions. On entering the building, I was warmly welcomed by the receptionist who took my details. By the time I had used the toilet facilities which were very clean, my name was being called out. I was seen by the triage nurse who was very kind and explained her position. I returned to the waiting area, got a glass of water, and literally within two minutes I was being called through by the Doctor. She knew exactly what was wrong without further explanation and after praising her for the excellent service, I left with a prescription for antibiotics. From stepping through the door to leaving was 16 minutes,I kid you not. Believe me,I would have been on the telephone longer than this to my own Doctors surgery to be told that no appointments were available, and to telephone at 8.00 am the following day, to then find when eventually getting through that all appointments had been taken and to try again tomorrow morning! Sheffield, you are so lucky to have this fantastic facility, I wish my Town had one. Thank you one and all, only suggestion would be to have an on-site pharmacy where I spent over 30 minutes to get my prescription?

  6. Review titled Really unhelpful and symptoms missed

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Hayley - Posted on 15 July 2022

I arrived at the centre to be told straight away from the practitioner that I shouldn’t be there, and that I should be at my doctors. This was before he’d even examined me and seen the problem. After looking at the problem he told me it was a bite and to go away and keep an eye on it. Since then I’ve been to the pharmacy and the pharmacist there took one look and said the bite was infected and that I need antibiotics from my doctor. Not only was my experience of the practitioner really poor, I also was given a very poor health service as he could have prescribed antibiotics but now I’m having to wait for my doctor, all the while with an infection. I’ve left feeling unsure what the point of a walk in service is so some education around settings is needed. From my point of view I did not think that walk in services were for emergencies (which is what I was told).

  7. Review titled Absolutely awful.

Rated 1 star out of 5

When going to the walk in, I don’t expect to be seen straight away, but I thought that when I was seen, I’d have atleast been heard and talked to like a adult and not a child. After 2 and a half hours of waiting, the person sat me down and told me I was pretty much making up my symptoms and told me to go to my GP. I had gone because I had been given antibiotics for a water infection from my GP(over phone consultant, no sample taken) but was no better after the course of antibiotics and couldn’t get an appointment there. So instead of leaving it another week, I went to the walk in to have a sample checked. I walked out in tears from the way the person had made me feel and spoken to me. Very stand off ish and dismissive of anything I said. Talked over me while I was trying to tell them what was wrong. 5 minutes after I had walked out crying, they then called me to to ask a question, can only imagine they realised how rude and dismissive they had been. Honestly awful. I know the job must be hard but the way I was treated for simply wanting to know if I had a water infection or not was a disgrace. Next time I’ll just wait for my GP and hope whatever it is doesn’t get worse because the walk in just can’t be bothered. Hopefully this one member of staff is the exception to the rule and the rest are respectful. Absolutely horrible experience.
