From assessment to review (still ongoing) I would not fault Spa Medica for their care, service, efficiency and clear explanation through the 'patient journey' of 2 cataract replacement lens procedures. Many thanks to all the potentially perplexing array of staff with their various roles and professions.

I had cataracts removed from both eyes after being, at Spamedica Bedford after being referred by my Optician on 2nd Feb this year. I was assessed on the 9th Feb and by the 28th March both eyes had been operated on. Throughout the entire experience all the staff at SpaMedica were so helpful and courteous and both operations were carried out with minimal discomfort. I am well on the way to recovery and have nothing but praise for the facilities and all the staff from cleaners all the way through to th surgeons.

This is a professionally run hospital with admin staff who are good administrators, eg they answer the phone to you. My only adverse comment when attending for cataract surgery was the long waiting time in a cubicle with no means of distraction. Therefore my anxiety mounted, but at the same time I don’t suppose this can be avoided and in the overall scheme of things is not excessive.

Was here with my father. Services seemed fast and great. My big issue is when we were sent to sit in reception for a bit I witness a nurse get a hot drink stand with the reception staff chin wagging. Then no glove finger in her mouth digging something out of her teeth. Then having a second go a minute later wipes finger on shirt. Does not sanitise hands then proceeds to touch 2 door handles one for admin office and the handle to the other waiting room. Admin room was then accessed by a different colleague. Covid maybe over but I'm sure putting fingers in your mouth and then working on a paitents eye could lead to infection and loss of sight. Reported to one of the reception staff who asked which one than stood there dumb founded and silent for 10seconds before he said "err yeah I will report that for you" in one of the most disinterested tones. Great service 5/5 hygiene and care 0/5

as with all things medical when eyes are mentioned there is always an intake of breath. having visited and been treated by Spamedica i can assure anybody who needs cataract treatment not to worry if you are nervous. the staff at Spamedica are fantastic and the treatment is superb. would recommend this establishment to anyone who needs it.

I can’t recommend this practice highly enough.. From start to finish I was treated with respect & kindness.. I am amazed at how well I can see now & am looking forward to receiving the same when I have my other eye done..

I had a cataract operation at Spamedica Bedford and although I did not like the procedure I have to say that the service I received was excellent. From the moment I arrived until the moment I left I felt valued and looked after. I was at the centre for just over 2.5 hours which included signing in, seeing the nurse for eyedrops to numb the eye, meeting the consultant, having the procedure, going through a very thorough aftercare process and being discharged. At every stage the staff were pleasnat and professional, everything was explained to me and I felt safe and reassured. The procedure was quick and although I did not like it there was no pain and no discomfort. I am really impressed by Spamedica who give a private health care style service on the NHS - whats not to like! I have already told a friend about them and they had their procedure 7 months before the NHS could offer which means they can now read and get on wiith their life, as I am doing with mine. Thank you.

I have had two cataract operations at SpaMedica in Bedford. They have both been very successful in outcome. I found SpaMedica to be well organised and efficient; keeping to time and not involving long waits, other than required as part of the treatment.

I was very nervous but the staff put me at ease, very professional and treated me as a person not a number. Theatre staff really lovely and and even had relaxing music on which helped me a lot to keep calm. A very big thank you to all at this centre x
