My cataract removal at Blackpool Spamedica was a fabulous experience from the first consultation to the operation itself Professional and caring with the right touch of empathy. Highly recommend.

I was there for 2 hours including all the pre op the actual time having procedure was 10 mins. I didn't realize it had started when the Dr said I'm nearly finished I have to go back in 4/6 weeks to have the other cataract removed. The worst part was my eye watering later in the day but that's normal I understand. Don't know why I was worried

My cataract surgery wad transferred from Preston to the Blackpool clinic during our drive to the clinic. This was professional managed, giving me the choice to redirect to Blackpool or, re book. We went directly to the Blackpool clinic, were greeted with apologies for the power problem at Preston, given a brew and within 10 minutes the process started. This was very efficient with caring lovely staff taking care of me. The whole process took no time at all and we were soon on our way home. Today, the day following surgery, my eye sight is 100% better and I can't wait to have the other eye operated on. Thank you Spa Medica, you are a brilliant team. As this was Children in Need day, an idea for next year. Give patients a Pudsey eye patch! Spa and patients could make a donation for each patient treated.

I had my pre-op assessment today. I was very anxious and nervous but was reassured at every stage. All staff treated me with empathy, understanding, respect and professionalism. From the beginning greeting and being checked in; eye checks by the hct; medical explanations by the nurse then further optometry checks, eye exam, explanations of surgery and options available by the optometrist. All staff happily answered my questions thoroughly explaining each step of the way clearly and coherently and have offered reassurances regarding my upcoming first cataract surgery in 2 weeks.

I have something of a phobia about eyes and to be told that I needed a cataract operation was my worst nightmare. What happened thereafter was all positive. The premises are clean and welcoming; the staff explained everything and were extremely reassuring. On the day everything went smoothly. I was very anxious however I was put at ease by the staff and the surgeon. The operation itself, while I wouldn't want to go through it every day, was over in less than 15 minutes. I felt no pain, just a little gentle pushing. The actual experience was far less traumatic than I had feared and the worst part was not knowing what to expect. I have now had both eyes done and had a positive experience on both occasions, with two different surgeons. Afterwards, I had a minor aching in the eye but this had gone by the next morning. You are back to normal (and driving) within 24 hours. I hope my review helps to alleviate the fears of people who are as nervous of this operation as I was.
