Swift turnaround, minimal fuss. Assessment on Tuesday, first cataract operation Thursday - I couldn’t make Wednesday! Safe and consistent experience.

I was little apprehensive about having my surgery. I needn’t have been as the staff and service given were outstanding. Everything was explained in detail and I came away one very happy lady.

The pre and post operative staff were very pleasant and informative. I was relaxed enough to doze off in the waiting room. However, when iodine was administered before the numbing drops had sufficient time to work I began to feel frightened. On entering the theatre I was greeted by a nurse wielding a large full syringe. The surgeon, without speaking jabbed something into my eye which closed. He shouted at me to open my eyes, and did it again. The anaesthetic was administered and the surgeon had trouble keeping the eyelid out of the way. The procedure continued, seeing scissors in front of my eye was scary. No conversation or information was given prior to any activity. I was in a lot of pain throughout but gritting teeth I survived, too terrified to do or say anything. The procedure finished and I commented I wasn't expecting that. The nurse then said I should have googled a video of it, and I now know what to expect the next time. I have had many operations over the years and never experienced such a treatment as here. In the past surgeons and nurses communicated what they were about to do. I was very upset, bruised and battered. I will not be returning for the second operation.

From assessment to treatment it was first class all through. Friendly knowledgeable staff .Explained every step of the process. Spotless in every area.I can't praise highly enough. Put me at ease with the professional way they conducted every step .The surgeon was clearly very professional, confident & capable.

From the initial appointment to the cataract operation, I found the clinic to be very professional with caring members of staff at all levels. I couldn’t have wished for better treatment.

I was impressed by the whole procedure. Lots of explanations about what was happening. I was extremely anxious about the operation but the surgeon calmed my fears and when I go back for the second eye operation I shall feel a lot more relaxed.

My overall experience was brilliant. From consultation to waiting was minimal. All the staff were so professional, friendly and courteous. The clinic was easy to get to and 5* rating in the furnishings and cleanliness.

Altogether impressive Surgeon good but a little curt and rough during process of surgery staff were very helpful reassuring and efficient very thorough and comforting in all areas of the process

Professional service, friendly staff apart from the actual surgery. Excellent, well organised assessment before surgery and afterwards. The rooms are clean, bright and well maintained. There was very little communication during the surgery which I found a frightening experience. Having a sheet placed across your eyes rendering you ‘blind’ with no explanation is disconcerting. A nurse holding your hand explaining what was happening would have helped. To be told when the surgery was nearly completed would help. It would be helpful to be offered a simulation of the surgery before hand. The surgeon was cold and impersonal. I appreciate he will be doing the same surgery hundreds of times a week but he needs to be mindful for that individual it could be their first time and they are more than likely to be nervous. Felt too much like I was on a conveyor belt.
