Review titled Medically great, admin poor
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Robert Fisher - Posted on 14 February 2024
The treatment was exemplary, but I have one observation. There was a long delay between arriving in the theatre waiting area and the operation. A short notification that there was a delay may have reduced some of the anxiety that I noticed amongst some elderly patients.

Review titled Cataract Clinic
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Roz Knight - Posted on 21 February 2024
I have had both cataracts down in the last two months. On both occasions the response from SpaMedica was immediate following their receipt of the referral from my optometrist. The dates for treatment they offered were very prompt. The clinic premises were modern, functional and clean and the staff were friendly and informative. The two operations were conducted professionally. The two experiences were exemplary.

I was treated pleasantly and respectfully by everyone with whom I came into contact. Everyone introduced themselves and each stage of my procedure was fully explained. I can’t praise SpaMedica Watford highly enough. I wish all clinics were the same!

Review titled Extremely efficient
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mary Payne - Posted on 20 February 2024
On the whole, I was very impressed by my treatment at SpaMedica in Watford. However, I would like to make a couple of comments. When I attended my pre-op assessment, my blood pressure reading was high. I was told I should take the BP again three days prior to the operation and phone with the results, which I did. When it came to have my BP taken before the op itself, the result again was high, but the nurse had nothing on record regarding the result that I had phoned in with which to compare it. The same happened when I had the BP taken post-op. The phoned-in result appeared to be missing. My second comment is regarding the eye drops that I have to use four times daily for two weeks. I was informed that if I ran out of these, I should phone. As I became concerned that the drops were likely to run out, I did phone to ask for more. I was anticipating receiving a paper prescription to be filled locally, but was told I would have to collect the drops in person from the Watford clinic. As the clinic is virtually a 2-hour round trip from my home, this simply wasn't practical. The person I spoke to said there was no facility for despatching the drops to me, so I resigned myself to managing without them. I was very surprised to hear this, as I know that many of the patients must live a distance from the clinic and may not have transport available. How the issue was resolved, I do not know, but it was. A parcel containing the drops arrived the following morning. My other comment is a minor one. I thought the 'music' playing in the clinic was awful. It seemed to be some sort of radio station and it was not in the least bit relaxing. Most of your patients are likely to be mature, so perhaps something more suitable could be arranged.
