  1. Review titled A completely mixed experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Issy mullin - Posted on 12 November 2024

I have quite a few comments as a new female patient. The system currently in place at this surgery does not work for people who urgently need to see a doctor. I have a medical issue which when arises needs to be medicated extremely quickly in order to prevent hospitalisation. Having to go through a messaging service where you may not get a reply for 48 hours is just not effective. I had a male doctor completely disregarding the severity of my situation. I had a sample that I was hoping could be looked at or sampled for testing - he threw it in the bin. He then refused to prescribe me antibiotics that I have previously been prescribed to use incase it was evening or weekend or was unable to get hold of the gp quickly. The reason being that ‘that isn’t what we do.’ I can reassure you I have had a specialist prescribe me antibiotics for this exact reason with an understanding I would get a doctors appointment and hand in a sample at the earliest convenience to make sure I am on the correct antibiotics. Terrible experience. I felt ignored and undermined. A female doctor from this same surgery completely understood my worries and was able to prescribe them to me no questions asked. Lovely woman who understood me and was on my side. Completely different experience. Why are there not appointments available in the day for those who urgently need to see a doctor? More appointments need to be made available for this as I’d only contact the doctor when I need to see them that day and it makes no sense that I struggle to do this. So if you know you’re going to be sick 48 hours in advance- this practice is great! If you’re not a psychic I’d look elsewhere.

The GP listened and reacted to what I said. He acted on my symptoms and gave practical advice that was helpful. Also a plan fir if I'm not feeling better. I felt heard and reassured.

The recipient was very helpful and pleasant and polite and understanding and the paramedic was also great and had time to listen to me and performed his duties effectively.

  4. Review titled Hard to get an appointment if you are working

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 February 2024

I am struggling to get an appointment for a month already. Not an actual appointment even, but a telephone consultation. I don’t think it is normal for people who work full time 9-6 as GPs, pay their taxes instead being home on benefits to not be able to get an appointment. If I miss the call for seconds and I phone back asap I am being told the doctor moved to the next patient and I have to reschedule which means another 1-2 weeks wait just for the telephone consultation. Apparantly people who actually work and lay taxes are not able to use the NHS, because have the same working hours as GP’s. Nobody would take a day off work just for a telephone call which is during working hours and no Saturdays for example.

The support staff and clinicians are always very helpful. My most recent visit was particularly great, as the GP was empathetic to my situation and offered great advice.

  10. Review titled Unpleasant smear test experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

The nurse did not explain what would happen and expected me to get in position for her to place the speculum. She tried using speculum of different sizes and forcefully put the speculum. After 3-4 minutes, she had trouble finding my cervix. A female doctor had to come in and finished the procedure.
