Review titled Rude and defensive reception woman
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 16 October 2024
This receptionist who worked at Bloomfield who has now gone upto the walk in centre has always had an attitude, I went up there tonight in pain after being told if I got there before 6 I would be seen. I got there at 5.50 and she told me that I could only see triage, I said to her that I was told over the phone I would be seen if I got there before 6pm. Granted I was rather frustrated because I was in pain and I’d gone down for no reason. Rather than being sympathetic or seeing if there was anything they could do as I’d been told I could go she just started saying there was no need to have a go at her etc etc. I said I’m sorry for raising my voice but I’m in pain and have come down for no reason. All she said was well there’s no reason to have a go at me. Her attitude was just as bad at Bloomfield and should not be on front desk receptions. All members of my family and friends have also had her and all say the same thing

Review titled Following on from previous review

Not just the one receptionist I mentioned previously. Every single receptionist at the walk in centre have really bad attitudes. Absolutely no empathy towards anyone who goes and checks in. Also I’ve noticed the new iPads that everyone has to check in on when a receptionist is sat there is ridiculous. There are a lot of elderly people who don’t know how to use iPads and it takes them a long time to do it. Also when you are stood there in pain the last thing you want to do is stand there filling in a questionnaire and sign yourself in. Awful experience every time I come to the walk in centre. Things should be made as least stressful as possible for people and also just a friendly person at reception can go along way

Review titled Exceptional care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mr J Whyte - Posted on 18 November 2024
I recently found myself in urgent need of medical attention due to severe pain in my back and kidney area. After several frustrating attempts to secure an appointment with my regular GP through the complicated Patches system, I was left feeling helpless and in discomfort. Fortunately, I decided to visit the Blackpool Urgent Treatment Centre on Whitegate Drive, and I am incredibly grateful that I did. Upon arrival, I was promptly attended to and soon found myself under the care of the male GP's on Duty that day (unfortunalty unable to mention his name but whos professionalism, compassion, and thoroughness were immediately evident. Despite my initial anxiety about visiting a walk-in centre, my experience turned out to be remarkably positive. The GP took his time to conduct a comprehensive assessment of my condition, leaving no stone unturned. He meticulously examined my symptoms, asked detailed questions, and performed a thorough physical examination. It was clear that he genuinely cared about my well-being and was committed to providing the highest quality of care. What stood out the most was the amount of time the GP dedicated to my consultation. It felt as though I was receiving a private, paid-for consultation rather than a quick, impersonal check-in. He patiently explained his findings, discussed potential causes of my pain, and offered several treatment options. His approach was both reassuring and informative, and I left the consultation feeling confident and well-cared for. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for the exceptional care I received from the GP and the entire team at the Blackpool Urgent Treatment Centre. In a healthcare system where securing timely appointments can often be a challenge, this experience was a refreshing reminder of what patient-centred care should look like. Thank you for your dedication and compassion, you have set a high standard for healthcare delivery, and I am truly appreciative of the exceptional service provided.

Review titled Distracted
Rated 3 stars out of 5

I had an urgent CT booked for Friday 30/8, I had a call from somebody within the dept , who asked me to come in early ‘anytime from now’ , which I did and arrived at X-ray reception at approx 2pm . The staff at reception seemed very vague and distracted and seems like May not have booked me in properly . After waiting an hour and half and numerous people going in before me including another patient who said she was booked in for 7 but they asked her to come in early, I asked at reception when it was my turn . Again very vague and didn’t seem to know what had happened however my wife overheard them checking using my patient ref number . The rest of the service I received from clinical staff can’t be faulted but the service is only as good as its weakest link .

Took my three year old granddaughter. Saw GP on duty this morning - 29/07/24 Excellent with her and myself. Extremely thorough. Very kind. Professional and very pleasant. Reception staff very good. X ray staff also very good. All very efficient. Appreciate wiring times can be tricky but as with all areas of the wonderful NHS, needs more resourcing. My own previous experiences at the walk in - rare and only when needed - occasions have been excellent. Thank you.

Review titled Rude and offhand reception staff
Rated 4 stars out of 5

I was sent to the walk in centre from triage 111. The receptionist wasn't friendly and told me to sit down. I politely asked should I sit here,as there were other seating, She said Yes this is a waiting room!!! In a rude manner. My daughter also commented to me how unfriendly she came across (my daughter was a previous gp Receptionist. I went for my ecg With a pleasant nurse.then hot sent back to wait to be called for my results with another nurse. Whilst waiting in the waiting room,a gentleman came into reception and showed a member of staff a piece of paper. The member of staff was a male wearing a black T shirt. He was very rude to the gentleman.saying very loudly. Why did they send you here with a pulse rate so high.!!! Then he said loudly again. Look mate go and get yourself to hospital we can't help you. The gentleman hardly spoke and walked away. We were shocked to say the least. I work for the nhs I deal with patients constantly and was appalled at the attitude of these people on reception.

Review titled Awful

The receptionists at the GP extension were miserable and didn't seem bothered. The doctor I had waited 2 weeks to see (pre booked by my GP because it had no appointments available for me) refused to talk to me about more than one medical issue even though it was a booked appointment. Then when I asked him to atleast note that I'd brought up bad chest pains because I'm currently under cardiac at the Vic he said no I would have to book an appointment at my GP, however the whole reason I was there was because my GP couldn't see me. So I have to now go back to my GP because they didn't wanna discuss my health and wouldn't take my complaints seriously about my pains.

Review titled Categorically wrong and unprofessional

My daughter is 8 years old. On Saturday she woke up with difficulty I swallowing after a week of having cold flu symptoms. She had a bit of a rash in her body so I thought it was tonsillitis and best I take her to the walk in centre to get antibiotics. When we arrived the triage nurse saw the rash without examining her at all (!!) and immediately left the room. She brought the doctor and they both said that they feel it might be measles!! I was I In total shock! I told them I came here for antibiotics for her tonsils. How have they come to that conclusion without even checking her tonsils!! She didn’t have a rash on her face and she didn’t have the spots in her mouth!! The rash on her body looks more like a heat rash!! We were then told that she had to isolate for 4 days until the results from a swab would come back. We were move to a senior nurse who reassured me a said that he couldn’t believe that that doctor came to a verdict without examination. He examined my daughter and saw that her tonsils were red and she had an ear infection which was why she had developed the rash!! Also he asked whether my daughter has had the MMR which she had and is another indication that it’s highly unlikely that she would have measles!!! My daughter was absolutely fine after we came back from the centre and the rash disappeared the next day! With antibiotics her ear felt fine after a couple of doses. 3 days of worrying and waste of resources not to mention the fact that the ‘doctor’ was totally wrong!!
