Whilst the service I got from the dentist was excellent, I was very disappointed that we were made to wait 15 minutes, despite this being the first appointment of the day. I watched several dental assistants race through the waiting room with only minutes to spare. This shouldn’t be the case in any business. It doesn’t bide well for the receptionists who are front of house and have to take all our moans or the dentist’s themselves. Rant over.

Thank you for your feedback, Jane. We are sorry that you were kept waiting when you attended recently. After reviewing your dentist's diary, we can see that there were appointments booked before your own. However, we do apologise that you were not kept informed of the delay. I'm sure you'll appreciate that dentistry is not always predictable and sometimes emergencies occur that need to be dealt with promptly in the best interests of the patient. We are a large practice, running six different surgeries, and we have team members starting their shifts at various times. Please be assured that our team members, both front-of-house and clinical, are all very conscientious when it comes to time-keeping. We can confirm that all dental nurses working in surgery were in the building and ready well before their start times on the day you attended. We hope this answers the points you raised. How fast the treatment was, I had a filling and I’ve always been uncomfortable about visiting the dentist but this treatment was quick and a lot less stressful that I thought it would be.

Everyone was friendly especially dental nurse and receptionists however I was in the dental room for exactly 3 minutes and was charged over £25 I would like that price to be please be justified.

Thank you very much for your feedback, Amy. We are really pleased to hear that you found our team to be friendly when you visited us recently, but sorry that you are not happy with the charge for your appointment. Your appointment was booked for the standard time we allow for your specific attendance reason, but we do appreciate that the charge incurred for this may appear disproportionate. Dental practices have no control over NHS fees, which are set by NHS England and would be the same regardless of where you were seen in England. Charges have increased significantly in 2023, and the NHS practices have had no say in this matter. The BDA has encouraged NHS patients to write to their MPs in regard to this untimely increase. Please do note that the full appointment time is not always required, and as long as our clinicians ensure a thorough assessment and understanding of a patient's needs is carried out, and that any urgent treatment is completed before the patient leaves, they will not keep you in the clinical room any longer than is necessary.

Both the hygienist and her assistant were polite, patient and constantly checking I was okay and gave me regular breaks during the procedure.

All of your staff were friendly and helpful. Your telephone answering system did not do you justice though, it was misleading and frustrating. Once it let me talk to a person though all was well.

The kindness of the dental hygienist, who knew my history even though we’d never met and who showed sensitivity for my anxiety, explained each step, gave me the opportunity for breaks and treated me like a person, not a task to be got through (as so often can happen). Thank you.
