I don’t normally write bad reviews but honestly I’ve had enough of this GP. I am a type one diabetic and I am being prescribed dexcom one. Now I need the transmitters to work with the sensors prescribed every 3 months. I am literally begging my GP to prescribe them and she keeps saying they are prescribed by the pharmacy and not her. Which is not true as they have been prescribed to me previously by the same practice. The stress this causes me is getting worse. This GP has no idea what she is doing. Absolutely ridiculous

Suffering with an ongoing health issues that was suspected to have underlying reasons, Avonside have not given up on me and have, where appropriate, referred me for specialist advice. Their understanding and dogged determination to find the root cause of my health condition has been so reassuring. I feel that, despite the pressures the NHS are facing, I still matter. Thank you all.

My son has been with this practice for a number of years. The care has been nothing short of incompetent and as a result we have had to pay privately for an appointment with a specialist. Both myself and my son work for the NHS, so we understand the situation with budget constraints and lack of funding, however this treatment has been borderline abusive. The GPs he has seen have all dismissed him despite a childhood diagnosis of his condition. They refuse to make the relevant referral as, 'everyone thinks they have this condition and the majority of referrals are turned down.' Now when he requires a letter to take to the specialist, they are again being obstructive. We are not in a position to be paying for on going private care, but have had to fund the initial appointment and at least the next few follow up appointments because of the refusal of the GPs to actually do their job. This is so frustrating and it is only because my son has a supportive family that he is still alive. How many other young people do not survive because of incompetent GPs? I wouldn't recommend this surgery to anyone.
