  1. Review titled Shocking service

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Jade - Posted on 03 October 2024

This surgery has slowly been getting worse over the years but now it's just awful. I called earlier this week to make an appointment and explained to the receptionist I'd already tried all options at the pharmacy, and they'd said I now need to see my Gp. She said someone would ring me back. Instead I got a text message from whom I assume was a doctor, telling me to seek advice at my pharmacy. With no way of replying to the text, I called the surgery again to explain I needed to speak to someone and had already been referred by the pharmacy. I was advised to now fill out an econsult form, which I did. I explained on it, in depth, that all methods of treatment at the pharmacy had not worked and I needed something else. I requested a phone call to speak to a doctor and the consult form advised that they would call within 48 hours. An hour later I recieved a text from a doctor to advise they'd prescribed me something that I'd already tried and explained didn't work. If they had read the form at all, they'd have seen this. I picked up the prescription anyway on the off chance and surprise, surprise, it doesn't work. Now I need to call the surgery again for the third time to hopefully speak to someone. I don't think they actually have any doctors there. Absolutely shocking and hard to deal with when you're already sick. The system needs a complete overhaul.

Good morning Jade Thank you for the time in giving feedback regarding your experience at the surgery. I would like to apologise if you do not feel the help you received was not as expected by the Doctor that triaged your econsult form. If you could please write to the surgery with your full name for my attention I will be able to look into this further. Kind regards Cher Cooper - Group Practice Manager

  3. Review titled Absolutely useless

Stood on a rusty nail, rang the surgery as my last tetanus was 8 years ago and wondered if I would need a booster.requested a call back due to the queue size, call came and I was told I would get a call back from a doctor.Next day and no call, rang again and they could find no trace of my previous call or enquiry.Receptionist then spoke to a doctor who said I did need a booster but they couldn’t do it,go to a&e. What’s the point of this surgery? Tetanus jabs apparently need to be done within the first 48 hours, had I not already had awful experiences with this health group I probably would have sat around waiting for the call that was never going to come and missed the deadline. The hospital were amazed they couldn’t fit me in for a jab and said this health group in particular are making a&e’s job a lot harder by palming patients off to them for day to day stuff, shut them down.

  4. Review titled Appalling Practice

As well as my own awful experience of trying to get an appointment . My wife who today was experiencing blood loss from both her period and From her rectum , as well as having a temperature was told there are no appointments..so to either fill out the ludicrous E consult form or go to A&E.. absolute disgrace .when I was told the same when I had terrible cramps in my abdomen and suffered for days ..until going to A&E and waiting hours to be treated for a UTI which had spread to my kidneys ... And given strong antibiotics biotics to deal with it. DMC doesn't care about it's patients , it's almost as if they don't want to see anybody ..they just want burden the already struggling hospitals with things that any normal doctors surgery could treat . The E Consult system is very user unfriendly . The elderly struggle massively this this nonsense . The Surgery itself is huge yet there never seems to be hardly any patients in there, there rarely seems to be permanent doctors either , only visiting locums ... Don't even seem to be able to conduct blood tests most of the time . If I could have left minus stars I would have done . The Surgery and the system is an absolute disgrace . I have witnessed an elderly lady in tears after being told by reception that she cannot book a important follow appointment that the doctor requested. And that she must work out the E consult form or try her luck in the appointment lottery by phone on the day. I hope In the very near future a investigation will be made into this poor excuse of a health service. the people of Danbury deserve better .

Dear Patient Thank you very much for your feedback. I am sorry to hear of your poor experience with us, we all strive to deliver the best care we can and are disappointed when we fall short of these expectations. eConsult is a new system that we are all learning and is a fundamentally different way to approach primary care. This approach is part of the wider NHS England Modernising General Practice plan. I would like to stress that whilst accessing eConsult via the website is the fastest and safest route to access care - we will always advise patients to call the surgery where our reception team will help. Please contact us formally and directly via our reception email at reception.f81100@nhs.net if you would like us to review this matter more closely and we will require personal information. Yours sincerely Cher Cooper Group Practice Manager

  5. Review titled Worst surgery ever!

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Rashmi Sathe - Posted on 15 February 2024

I have been trying to get an appointment for my child. I tried calling in the morning last week when I was told to fill in the e-consult form or go to A&E as they had no appointments. After filling in the form, I have been waiting for a week now. I called today to be told that it has not gone to triage yet as they are very busy and was informed to take my child to Colchester urgent care. This is the most pathetic GP services on the planet. There is no communication about the waiting times and no consideration for the patients health. And it's not even the first time that I am having trouble with the surgery. The level of service is just appalling!!!

Rarely use the doctors. Can only make an appointment online between certain hours. The only time I have for lunch break is the time you cannot fill in the form. Tried ringing to be told must fill I'm form online! The amount of time she explained this,an appointment could have been made! I work rest of day so have no way of making an appointment. Ridiculous system

Dear Tracey Gingell Thank you for your feedback regarding the econsult form. I am sorry that it was not a convenient time for you when you tried to fill in the form. We have found that the amount of forms we receive out ways the capacity so have decided to restrict how many we receive on a daily basis, temporarily. If you feel that you need to be seen on the day then we ask patients to call the surgery We will take your feedback into consideration with any further plans we have for this system Kind regards Cher Cooper - Practice Manager

Called to make an appointment for my child, and was told to do an e consult, was told a doctor will look over it but it can take upto 24/48 hours for someone to contact me. I was told if my child gets worse to call nhs 111. Sorry but if your child is sick and you require a doctor you should be able to see one not wait for a doctor to look through an e consult. It’s absolutely disgusting my child has to wait to get medical attention when it is needed. Back on the phone I go to try and get medical advice for a sick child. I shouldn’t have to call nhs 111 I should be able to rely on a doctors appointment, e consult is wrong shouldn’t be used to get an appointment for a child or anyone who is vulnerable

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback regarding econsult and this being used for your child. After using econsult for 2 weeks for care that patients need on the day and due to feedback and comments we have received recently regarding this, we have decided to go back to our original system. We now ask patients that feel they need to be dealt with by a Clinician on the day to call the surgery and for routine care to fill in an econsult form. Once again, I would like to thank you for your feedback. Kind regards Cher Cooper - Practice Manager

Rated 1 star out of 5

Hubby called the surgery at 8am - 10th in the queue (pretty good) to be told by receptionist to fill in a e- consult. Receptionist called him back with an appointment for the 08/01/24. The point is he needed an on the day appointment. Doubled over with Rt sided shooting pain, advised to go to A&E then as no appts. Great use of our struggling A&E service

  9. Review titled Stupid, stupid econsult

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 October 2023

Econsult - an online form that you can only fill in during office hours. Filled it in asking for a referral and not a GP appointment as it will be a waste of time. I was asked to request a referral not a GP appt. Got a no reply email saying they will arrange a GP appointment. No way to message them. What a stupid, idiotic, badly designed, inefficient system. Shame on you.

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback regarding the econsult form. We have started this system so that we can manage demand and maintain safe response times. The forms are accessible during our opening hours and works inline with the hours that Clinicians are available to triage the forms. A GP appointment is still required if a referral is needed by a patient. A Patient will need to be accessed so that the right referral can be made to the correct service Cher Cooper Group Practice Manager

    by L cole - Posted on 16 August 2023

I have tried three days running starting my call at 7.59am hanging on or getting a call back every day I’m told there are no appointments left. They will not make appointments in person at the surgery and no longer allow appointment booking online they tell me there are not enough GPs and it says they are still taking on new patients hideous service people are dying, people are going too long before diagnosis something must be done

We are looking at implementing a new system shortly at the surgery where we hope that access to be accessed by a Clinician will become easier for the patient.
