    I have been consistently disappointed with the service at this GP surgery. It’s almost impossible to book an appointment. Whenever I call, I'm either told to try again later or to use the online system, which never has any available slots. To make matters worse, on multiple occasions they have cut off my prescriptions without any notice. They insist that I must complete a medication review before they’ll issue any more medication, but despite this urgency, they have no appointments available for weeks! This is completely unacceptable, especially since I cannot simply stop taking my medication. It’s a serious risk to my health, and the surgery doesn’t seem to care. To top it all off, every time I order a repeat prescription, they claim it has been issued, but the pharmacy never receives anything. I’m left chasing them up constantly, with no clear answers or solutions. This surgery’s handling of patients’ needs is nothing short of a nightmare. I strongly advise anyone considering this practice to look elsewhere. Your health and time deserve better.

    Dear Mitch, We sincerely apologise for the difficulties you experienced making an appointment. We usually have a routine appointment available in under 2 weeks and provide appointments each day for emergencies. Our online system does not operate on a slot basis. It is available 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday via an online form accessible via our website. All of our prescriptions are issued electronically directly to your chosen pharmacy. We do limit the quantity of medications when reviews are overdue, but we do issue a short supply to last until the next available appointment and we do not leave patients without medication. It is important to attend for reviews when asked to do so to help us prescribe safely. We also have both a pharmacist and a pharmacy technician who are here to help patients manage their repeat medicines. Our call records show our pharmacist did try to contact you by phone to discuss your review in response to a previous email, but there was no answer. We would be happy to discuss this with you in more detail and encourage you to please contact our practice manager directly.     I recently moved over to this practice and was shocked by the experience. I had COVID and needed to cancel a flight because of it and I had to call 6 times in order to get information on the process of getting confirmation of my positive result from the GP. Each time I was told different things to do/places to go until eventually I was told I would need to send a form through to be completed by the doctor. Having been very ill with COVID and having to phone 6 times and explain my situation 6 times only to be told multiple different things was beyond frustrating and very disappointing. After paying £30 for the form I then had to wait over a month for it to be completed. I was then told I needed to come into the practice to collect the form and when I arrived was told there were issues with the system and I'd need to come back. A disaster from start to finish.

    Dear Patient, We sincerely apologise for the difficulties you experienced during what was already a challenging time for you. Time spent completing non-NHS/private forms and reports, such as flight cancellations and insurance claims takes the GP away from the medical care of his or her patients. We have to priortise our NHS services and when we are especially busy this may mean the wait for private services is longer. However, we do try and provide a clear and efficient service and we are sorry that well fell short on this occasion.     Went to my surgery today was nervous not been for very long time, my doctor put me at ease and really took the time to listen to me and my concerns. Never felt rushed she went through step by step on what was going happen and what was going to happen next totally made fell at ease. The whole of the Beckett house practice staff from all receptionist , nurses and doctors from now and past have been amazing thank you 😊

    We found booking appointments at Beckett House a breeze from the very beginning. Their online system is simple, and they often have same-day slots available. This was crucial for us, especially when our son was an infant with frequent issues like lactose intolerance and eczema. The doctors at Beckett House were fantastic, providing not only excellent care but also clear explanations and follow-up letters. As his allergies and asthma developed, the repeat prescription process became seamless with their app. We can request refills directly and choose our preferred pharmacy for pick-up. Most recently, our son needed to be seen for a sports injury. After calling on Monday, we were seen by the doctor on Thursday and had a referral secured by Friday, complete with a shared copy of the letter. This efficiency and attentiveness are exactly why we've stayed with Beckett House for over 14 years, even after moving further south. They've earned our trust and provided exceptional care for our entire family.

  5. Review titled No Mental Health Support

    I recently asked to be signed off work for stress and anxiety, this is all done online. No check in, no contact with a GP, no advice, no-one to ask if I need help or someone to talk to. This is despite me mentioning some serious problems in my life. Also never did my 8 weeks post labour check up. Despite me having to have multiple operations and life changing injuries. When I point this out, the response has never been "do you need help?". Do not recommend.

    The receptionist is always polite and friendly no matter what. It is not a huge wait on the phone normally either. Good for people with autism or anxiety. The doctor made me feel very safe and I felt very heard..I could tell she really wanted to hear me and she checked I understood and truly agreed or knew what I was agreeing to..for example she asked me to explain how I used my medication to her, she triple checked with me and asked me in a couple of ways to make sure I really got it. She gave me choices and made sure I was informed and it was incredibly good practice especially regarding informed consent. I got very stressed but she also handled that well. She is an excellent doctor for someone with autism and anxiety. She also believed me about the side effects my meds has on me and explained why that was. She is one of very few doctors to do that (the other doctors who also listen work for your practice too). It's a good practice. I felt she really thought about what she was prescribing and my medication..this is something Beckett house actually does very well. Beckett house stands out for not only reviewing meds but actually explaining how they work and helping someone make an Informed decision.

    My GP sent me an online questionnaire on prostrate cancer. Followed instructions and my GP gave me a blood test form. I was amazed that on the day I did the test Tuesday 21s5 March at St. Thomas's, my GP called me up giving me a 12:30 appointment next day, Wednesday 22nd. Services have massively improved at Beckett House. A very young locum doctor was a good communicator. A good service.

    I've been dealing with my condition for a couple of years now and have seen many doctors. I have been to see two doctors at Beckett House Practice in the last few months for tests and to discuss treatment and both have been wonderful. They were empathetic, thorough, considerate, and above all they truly listened to me. It can be upsetting dealing with an ongoing condition, but I truly feel like the doctors cared and will help me get to the bottom of this. They've been very reassuring and I'm very grateful.
